I. INTRODUCTION
Project Background Information
The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a Lebanese NGO registered at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities under no. 1186 on 18 June 2014 and had started as a project launched in 2010 by the United States Forest Service (USFS) Office of International Programs (IP) through the support and funding of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
One of LRI's projects' preparations is to implement a labor-intensive forestry activities project with UNDP (LIFI). The project will be implemented in Baalbeck-Hermel, West Beqaa and Jbeil-Kesrwan districts and will aim at reducing fire risk, managing forest areas for pest reduction, improving ecotourism through the rehabilitation of existing trails, improving rangeland and bee pasture areas, and developing and sustaining income generating activities related to ecotourism, charcoal production, beekeeping, and other forestry-related business activities for rural communities.
II. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
LRI is seeking a full-time (26 working days per month) Field Operator for the South region for the period of 2 months from July 1st, 2021, till August 31, 2021. The Field Operator should be based in the South region (Marjaayoun or Bent Jbeil caza) to help the project team ensure smooth work progress and compliance with the donor’s requirements.
The Field Operator is expected to coordinate the implementation of the project activities with the different site supervisors and report back to the Project Coordinator and Project Manager on project progress.
The Field Officer is expected to perform the following duties:
- Monitor site supervisors work and track work implementation in reference to the work plan by reporting daily locations.
- Coordinate with Forest and Land Management experts at LRI to ensure a proper implementation of the field work.
- Organize group discussions with the local stakeholders and report collected feedback.
- Brief participants about work conditions and present training materials developed for the project.
- Collect field technical information and conduct needed surveys.
- Follow up with local partners teams on all aspects of the project implementation.
- Assist in stakeholder’s identification process and assess level of influence and involvement.
- Communicate with the municipalities and local authorities or other public administrative organization.
- Prepare attendance sheets, verify workers signatures, and file daily copies of the sheets.
- Issue workers payrolls and follow up on payment procedures in coordination with the cluster field officer.
III. REQUIREMENTS
The Field Operator should possess the following competencies, skills, and experience:
- Good academic and proven practical knowledge in the field of community mobilization, coordination of community activities, social work, forestry, or any related field.
- At least 2-3 years of relevant experience working with rural communities.
- Strong analytical, communication and inter-personal skill.
- Willingness to travel daily to the project sites in South, using his/her own car.
- Should be based in the South area (Marjaayoun or Bent Jbeil caza).
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic.
