Job Overview
The community worker will work with children and their families in a range of complex situations addressing issues such as resilience and recovery. The community worker is responsible for the day-to-day social support and group activities with the children and youth.
RESPONSIBILITIES, MAIN DUTIES AND REPORTING:
Program implementation:
- Conduct initial and follow up assessments for CP cases and prioritize them according to risks levels.
- Implement all activities as per the CP Plan.
- Conduct a daily variety of community based PSS activities within the ISs, catering to the needs of children of different ages and genders and accordingly to the IS activities weekly schedule
- Facilitate the participation of all the segments of the target population to the planned activities held at the assigned centers, notably the most vulnerable ones, ensuring that proper attention is paid to specific emotional and physical needs
- Maintain daily attendance registers and a weekly and monthly inventory sheets for each activity conducted
- Maintain and fill properly any distribution list or attendance lists for the activities conducted
- Aid in the planning of PSS activities and procedures to be implemented in these activities.
- Arrange and perform visits following the PSS and Child Protection guidelines.
- Prepare workshops and awareness sessions.
- Manage all cases in line with related SOPs, guidelines, and adhere to standard documentation processes and follow best practice guidelines.
- Regularly document cases by using all the approved tools and forms.
- Regularly provide field reports, and other related reports to the CP Officer.
PSS Activities:
- Design and implement PSS activities for vulnerable children, youth, women, and men.
- Act according to the guiding principles of GBV and Child Protection including: respect of confidentiality, PSEA, “do not harm”, non-discriminatory approach, avoid conflict of interest.
Program Monitoring & Coordination:
- Participate actively in weekly and monthly coordination meeting with the manager.
- Prepare weekly/monthly reports in a timely manner and incorporate manager feedback.
- Informs the CP Officer about any difficulty met during activities implementation;
- Monitor the wellbeing and child abuse cases and report any accordance in line with child protection policy and guidelines
Training and Capacity Building:
- Attend all trainings planned and evaluate these trainings.
- Suggest any topic for future trainings based on the needed skill or knowledge.
General Policies:
- Follow the general policies, code of conduct, Child Safeguarding policy.
- Adhere to the PSEA policy
- Abide by the values and principles of all policies set by the organization.
- Perform other duties assigned by the direct supervisor.
CP Officer
EDUCATION AND Experience:
- University degree in Social science or other related fields.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in social work preferably psychosocial activities, social work or case management, in humanitarian or development settings
- Very good understanding of protection, refugee rights, international humanitarian principles.
- Experience working with working children

- Good background information about child protection

- Good Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Excellent analytical and reporting skills
- High confidentiality, respect, and non-discrimination attitude.
- Strong communication skills.

- High level of planning and organizing (ability to meet deadlines)
- Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work effectively with others
- Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children;
- Staunch advocate of child protection and child rights;
- Willingness to learn new skills and/or approaches
- Ability to show initiative and take responsibility
