Job Profile
A. Required qualifications, competences and experience
Qualifications
university degree in an area that is related to the project/programme objectives, with a focus on a relevant field (equivalent to BA or MBA)
Professional experience
At least 5 years’ professional experience in a comparable position;
Experience with peacebuilding and dialogue approaches;
Experience in civil society initiatives planning and implementation;
Experience in conflict analysis and stakeholder mapping; profound knowledge of the Syrian conflict necessary;
Strong capacity in grants management including planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting;
Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills;
Strong relational skills to interact with CSOs;
Proven ability to understand and advise on the challenges that NGOs, CSOs might encounter in project implementation;
Proven experience in applying best practices of Do-no-harm and context-sensitivity;
Ability to work as part of a team, to focus under pressure, and to work on tight timelines;
Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken).
Other knowledge, additional competences
Excellent working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
strong planning and organizational competence
willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.
B. Responsibilities
The technical professional is responsible for
Monitoring and analysis of political, humanitarian, and civil society developments and give advice and closely collaborate with project team;
Manage the design, planning, facilitation, monitoring, implementation, and reporting of grants and projects;
Liaise with international agencies, civil society actors, international organizations, and other actors relevant to the project in close coordination with project team; Ensure that the project’s work is in line with international good practice in dialogue, mediation, peace process support and peacebuilding;
implementing daily operational aspects of all issues related to the project;
processing technical aspects and further developing the area of responsibility in accordance with the specified quality standards;
maintaining of a good flow of communication and information between all involved institutions and counterparts and GIZ;
Ensure best practices of Do-no-harm and context-sensitivity.

Manages the design, planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of grants;
coordinates and assists in preparing and conducting project activities and carries out other activities required for implementing these components;
assists the project members in carrying out their work;
2. Communication and networking
The technical professional
develops and maintains contact with all relevant stakeholders
provides technical assistance to local and international experts
ensures knowledge management: collects, processes and distributes relevant information, monitors communication and interaction between relevant institutions, NGOs and society through analyses of the media, direct dialogue, participation in meetings and seminars etc.
3. Other duties/additional tasks

Contributes to the design of relevant research products
Supports the operationalization of analysis outputs
And performs other duties and tasks at the request of management
Project Description:
Syria Peace Initiative (SPI)*
The project supports the UN’s Security Council Resolution (SCR) 2254 in order to move towards a negotiated solution that is respecful of the aspirations of all Syrians. The project is based on the belief that the UN-led negotiation process is essential for a sustainable solution in Syria. Consequently, the overall objective of the project is to provide an effective multi-stakeholder, multi-layered contribution to the Syrian peace process in-line with UNSCR 2254.
