Community Health Worker (CHW) Supervisor_ Bekaa

Community Health Workers (CHWs) related tasks

  • Conduct daily field visits in order to identify CHWs who are willing to engage in the project. When identifying the CHWs, special attention should be directed towards the behavioural competencies and their experience in approaching vulnerable communities;
  • Follow up and supervise the daily work and achievements of the CHWs by collecting their weekly reports in an effective and efficient manner; the job holder must ensure that the behavioural and technical competencies of the CHWs as demonstrated on the field with the beneficiaries are up to the expectation of Relief International and in alignment with RI’s code of conduct;
  • Create a link between the CHWs and the PHCCs in the area of intervention to ensure that vaccination defaulters, vulnerable families, sick children, pregnant women, etc are referred to appropriate services at the nearest PHCC.
  • Build the capacity of the CHWs on delivering awareness on UNICEF integrated messages, support and on identifying and referring immunization defaulters from the target community to PHCCs.
  • Supervise the micronutrients supplementations distribution by the CHWs and their participation in the national campaigns related to MNCAH.
  • Ensure that the CHWs demonstrate a high level of professionalism while working or coordinating with beneficiaries, their family members, and any internal or external party; any incident or work-related conflict should be immediately reported by the CHWs to the CHW Supervisor first then the Public Health Officer;
  • Ensure that the CHWs demonstrate a high level of cultural sensitivity, professionalism, politeness and objectivity when dealing with the beneficiaries under all circumstances;

 

Awareness-related tasks and activities

  • Raise the awareness of the CHWs and communities on health promotion aspects for early preparedness and response to outbreaks, and transmission and prevention of common communicable diseases (diarrhea and acute respiratory diseases) and skin diseases;
  • Conduct well-structured training sessions on health and mental health subjects while ensuring to address the most common problems facing beneficiaries; the job holder should ensure that the right information is communicated with beneficiaries and ensure that all their questions and inquiries are dealt with in an effective and efficient manner;
  • Develop and disseminate appropriate public health education messages encouraging people to seek early care for fever, cough, diarrhoea, malnutrition, especially pregnant women and children and how to access relevant services;

 

Miscellaneous

  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism while working or coordinating with beneficiaries, their family members, CHWs and any internal or external party; any incident or work-related conflict should be immediately reported to the Public Health Officer. The Job holder should avoid going into any work-related communication which might jeopardize the relationship of RI with any party; 
  • The job holder should demonstrate a high level of cultural sensitivity, professionalism, politeness and objectivity when dealing with the beneficiaries under all circumstances; 
  • Coordinate closely with the Public Health Officers and Case Manager Assistants in order to inform the job holder about any referral cases for an effective and efficient follow up;
  • Actively participate in weekly staff meetings and submit reports on time.
