Theoretical Trainer - Agricultural Practices for Small Gardens

Organizational background

Mada is a non-partisan, non-sectarian Lebanese NGO, established and registered in 2000 in Lebanon which aims to reinforce the relationship between local communities and their natural environment for the satisfaction of their substantial needs.

Job Brief

The theoretical trainer will work under the project “Employability and soft skills program for youth in Akkar, north Lebanon”, funded by UNICEF. This project is implemented by Mada Association in partnership with Empower.

The theoretical Trainer will conduct the program of 45 hours during 11 days targeting 18 to 27 youth.

Main Activities

1. Activity 1: Animate the theoretical training according to the Curriculum that is validated by Mada Association. The contents delivered during the classes should be based on the curriculum prepared by Mada and should include but not limited to:
   1. Introduction to Agriculture
   2. Soil structure, composition, and preparation
   3. Irrigation systems
   4. Deficiencies and Fertilization
   5. Selection of variety and seeds
   6. Cover crops and soil fertility
   7. Crop Rotation
   8. Pest’s identification
   9. Introduction to good agriculture practices
   10. Harvest and post-harvest
   11. Profit/Loss Calculation at the end of a season

2.  Activity 2: Prepare a pre and post-test.

3. Activity 3:  Prepare a list of materials and equipment needed.

4. Activity 4: Fill in the Daily attendance sheets of the trainees.

5. Activity 5: Submit a final report at the end of the training stating:

1. 1. A summary of Training workflow
   2. Difficulties and Challenges
   3. Problems encountered
   4. Solutions and Recommendations

 Minimum Qualification and experience

• 3 to 4 years of experience in delivering similar training.
• Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture Engineering and/or related field.
• Demonstrated experience in Vegetable growing and open field cultivation
•  Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills
