Photographer - Consultant for a Project

General Objective
To raise awareness among the general public about the humanitarian situation in Lebanon; and to reflect the various aspects of the Integrated Shelter for Health and Protection project’s achievements across the 3 intervention locations. The material created (pictures, testimonies, potentially videos) will be used for a temporary exhibition held in Beirut (venue to be confirmed), end of August 2021.

Snapshots giving an overview of the context, highlighting the humanitarian needs that we seek to meet through our activities at that time.
Portraits of beneficiaries in their living environment and testimony/caption.
Portraits of the members of ISHP partners carrying out their work.
Skills and pre-requisite
Experienced Photographer with reference/portfolio as supporting evidence
Entitled to work in Lebanon
Fluent in Arabic
Good commands of English
Excellent communication skills
Adaptability to various communities’ cultures
High capacity to create links while visiting and discussing with communities
Capacity to conduct field visits in Bekaa, North and Akkar regions of Lebanon Strong and objective interest in the humanitarian aid Able to work in difficult contexts Ability to work independently Good writing skills
Sense of teamwork, especially with those in charge of community outreach Experience of work with NGOs/UN agencies is a strong asset
Previous similar experience is a plus


Duty stations
Beirut: 20%
Bekaa: 30%
North and Akkar: 40%
NB: this will be slightly re-adapted upon hiring, during the fine-tuning of the workplan (cf. “workplan” section below).


Equipment
The consultant should have and use his/her own photographer’s material (no drone allowed).
The consultant should manage his/her own car movements to the above-mentioned locations.
NB: on some occasions, the consultant may be joining one of the partners and hence travel in a partner’s car. This will be defined during the fine-tuning of the workplan (cf. “workplan” section below).


Duration & Period
The consultant will work during twenty (20) working days (full time) across 1 month.
From beginning August 2021 until end of August 2021.


Workplan / Consultant’s role and responsibilities
- Presentation of the project by the Consortium Coordinator.
- Meeting with key staff of Consortium’s partners.
- Fine-tuning of the detailed workplan, together with the Consortium Coordinator.
- Field visits with partners (Bekaa, North and Akkar): meeting partners’ field teams, collect of existing field pictures of interest, visiting the communities, taking pictures of the activities (and beneficiaries, provided consent is given prior to it), recording testimonies from beneficiaries (provided consent is given prior to it), and any other activity that the completion of the objective may require.
- Contributing, together with the Consortium Coordinator and the Consortium panel1, to the selection of the exhibition material (pictures, etc.) and to the printing technical specifications – including partners’ and donor’s logos. Final decision, prior to printing and arrangements, will be taken by the Consortium Coordinator and the Consortium panel.
- In charge of printing the selected pictures and in charge of the necessary arrangement to display the testimonies/videos (high quality printing, hard support, minimum A3 size, colors or black & white).
Around 40 pictures are expected.
- Liaising, when requested, with the manager/focal point of the selected venue for the exhibition to organize the necessary arrangements (venue will be selected by SI).
- Presence during the photo exhibition (half-day).


Other deliverables
Weekly reports detailing the achievements, challenges and any request of workplan modification – to be submitted to the Consortium Coordinator.
Field movements
Most of the movements will be organized together with the Consortium Coordinator and/or Consortium’s partners.
The consultant should manage his/her own car movements to the above-mentioned locations.

Payment
50% after 10 working days and upon presentation of the invoice and submission of the 2 weekly reports reflecting actual achievements as per the commonly-agreed workplan.
50% after completion of the entire requested service and upon presentation of the invoice and submission of the 2 weekly reports.
Ownership and intellectual property
The transfer of image rights for 10 years and on any communication support to SI for all the photos and other material delivered.
All the pictures and other material deriving from this consultancy will be duly identified as his/her intellectual property during the exhibition (e.g.: @NameOfThePhotographer printed on pictures).
