In 2019, Siren Associates joined efforts with CME, a leading tech company, to establish Siren Analytics. The latter has put online leading technologies into the hands of tomorrow’s leaders and public administrations. Siren Analytics has been involved in a comprehensive program working toward enhancing the Lebanese Government’s accountability and governance, while fostering opportunities for increased engagement between the public administration, civil society and Lebanese citizens.
The main duty of the Communication Officer is to cover Siren Analytics activities, contribute to and implement its communication and public engagement strategy. The Communication Officer publicize Siren Analytics programs and initiatives and deliver effective information and communication material in line with the media and social media strategy across platforms.
The Communication Officer will be a part of Siren Analytics communication team, and work closely with Siren directors, experts, consultants, projects coordinators, managers and officers as well as liaise with Siren’s partners when needed. It is expected that she/he demonstrates a deep interest in issues related to communication, social media, governance, public administration, digitalization, reforms and human rights. The ideal candidate is proactive, interactive, and able to engage with audiences in Arabic and English.
JOB PURPOSE
The Communication Officer will be a part of Siren Analytics communication team, and work closely with Siren directors, experts, consultants, projects coordinators, managers and officers as well as liaise with Siren’s partners when needed. It is expected that she/he demonstrates a deep interest in issues related to communication, social media, governance, public administration, digitalization, reforms and human rights. The ideal candidate is proactive, interactive, and able to engage with audiences in Arabic and English.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSABILITIES
1- Coordinating and liaising with the media/influencers and partners:
- Coordinate with the media on various projects and programs Siren is working on. Deliver information, prepare press releases, press kits, coordinate interviews and prepare media materials.
- Prepare reports about Siren’s media coverage.
- Prepare and keep updated Siren media data mailing list, including local, regional and international, media and bloggers/influencers working on governance, public administration, digitalization, reforms issues.
2- Production of communication material:
- Develop, review and implement Siren media strategy under the guidance of Siren program managers and communication lead.
- Identify the adequate tools and online platforms to deliver messages, knowledge and important information; Prepare messages to be delivered and ensure wide dissemination, as per each medium used.
- Assess and monitor Siren communication and media performance and reach when possible.
- Write Stories, reports and releases addressed to the media and to the broader public to populate the website, and social media pages of Siren and the various programs it covers, prepare statements, captions, posts, tags, Hashtags, prepare illustrations and pictures, draft brochures, and annual reports.
- Support the different programs of Siren by suggesting and producing relevant communication materials.
- Regularly generate high quality communication material on activities and programs.
- Produce material in Arabic and English when needed.
- Follow up on execution and production of Siren materials and publications in close coordination with the communication team, program managers (request and compare offers, follow-up on the design and printing of studies, leaflets, manuals, etc.).
3- Online presence:
- Manage Siren’s and Relevant programs and Entities Siren is supporting, online presence, on a dailybasis, including press, website and social media platforms.
- Populate the websites and programs websites with relevant information, and ensure follow up with websites developers and program managers in various languages.
- Ensure linkages and exchange with various entities online (Governmental, Local and International, INGOs, Donors).
QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY COMPETENCIES
- University degree in Communication, Media, Social Sciences, Journalism or a related field.
- Previous experience in project implementation in cooperation with local and international partners.
- Excellent writing skills in both Arabic, and English. French is an asset.
- Strong personal commitment to Siren’s mission, vision and values mainly related to accountability andtransparency.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to priorities work agenda to meet deadlines.
- Strong command of MS Office applications and other computer programs.
- Strong social media and advocacy skills (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and WordPress).
- Proven skills in photography, filming and video editing.
- Strong team working skills, self-motivated and detail-oriented and able to manage multiple assignments.
- Ability to follow up on tasks with line managers, to ensure taking all approvals.
- Ability to synthetize requests and deliver and follow up on them with a team.
