Clinical Psychologists

WPA is looking for two full-time clinical psychologists (roving), each to support the Women Program Centers in 4 locations: 1.) Burj Barajneh, Beddawi, Naher el Bared, Wavel and 2.) Ein El Helweh, Rashidieh, Buss, Burj Shmali.

Tasks

  • In collaboration with the social workers and center coordinators, conduct awareness sessions for community members on various mental health and psychological issues that are identified as relevant to the target group;
  • Provide supervision and support to Social Workers’ implementation of basic life-skills sessions at WPA centers, including feedback regarding identified challenges;
  • Facilitate support groups and provide psycho-education sessions as needed;
  • Coordinate effectively with the Social Workers and/or any other team members  and provide them with support while working with beneficiaries at WPA centers as needed;
  • Provide direct psychological support to any identified clients at the WPA in need of psychological intervention, based on a holistic assessment, case formulation and responsive care plan, and conduct external referrals as needed, according to a client/survivor-centered approach and based on best-practices;
  • In coordination with Social Workers and Center Coordinators, build partnerships and network with actors in the area for the referral of cases based on identified needs (e.g. mental health, speech therapy, psychomotor therapy, disability services, etc.).  
  • Conduct trainings and awareness sessions for staff, when required, regarding psychosocial issues, community engagement, or any other relevant topics based on experience/training;
  • Maintain files for individual clients, and ensure full confidentiality and privacy in information sharing and storage of files. 
  • Maintain a database with disaggregated data (by gender, age, nationality and disability) of all interventions; including supported beneficiaries, group sessions, awareness sessions, etc.
  • Ensure monthly reporting with a summary of key achievements, challenges and recommendations, as required by the Project Manager;
  • Respect beneficiary confidentiality and address needs and requests in a professional and ethical manner.

Required experience, skills and competencies:

  • Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology
  • Minimum three to five years of relevant experience in the field of clinical psychology and psychosocial support, with experience in a supervisory position.
  • Good knowledge of Child Protection and GBV National SOP’s and Guiding Principles
  • Good knowledge of best practices and international guidelines on MHPSS is desirable
  • Excellent skills in problem-solving and stress management
  • Good time management, organizational and prioritization skills and ability to meet deadlines under pressure;
  • Strong inter-personal and team working skills, including the ability to lead, manage, liaise and communicate with team members;
  • Demonstrated capacity to take initiative and pay attention to details;
  • Flexibility, dynamic; initiative-taking;
  • Ability to respond well in emergency situations and trouble-shoot crisis situation as needed;
  • Ability to plan workloads and demonstrate accountability for outputs;
  • Good verbal and writing skills in Arabic; good English skills are a plus;
  • Driving license and car

Reporting and Supervision:

Psychologist should report to WPA Program Manager. She/he will receive overall guidance and technical advice from UNRWA GBV Coordinator and MHPSS Coordinator.
