MHPSS Case Manager - BML Aramoun (Repost)

Background: 

The International Medical Corps Mental Health Department provides Mental Health and Psychosocial support (MHPSS) consultations through its case management teams located in Bekaa, South, North, Beirut and Mount Lebanon. International Medical Corps also aims to advocate for mental health, by promoting community based interventions such as early childhood development programs and youth empowerment programs in addition to provision of awareness sessions on several mental health topics. Moreover, International Medical Corps coordinates with the National Mental Health Program within the ministry of public health to design MHPSS programs and conduct trainings.

Job Purpose: 

Case managers at International Medical Corps work within a case management model using a psychosocial multidisciplinary and a community based approach. They are the frontline workers providing MHPSS case management consultations and services to refugees/displaced population in Lebanon and vulnerable host communities in a crisis or an emergency situation, whereby the mentioned population's needs are addressed in a timely and  efficient manner, using short and mid-term psychosocial, mental health and community based approaches.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Promote and introduce the International Medical Corps (IMC) mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services to institutions, centers, PHCs and individuals.
  • Case managers at IMC will complete an overall assessment for all their beneficiaries by filling the Biopsychosocial assessment (data collection) and the other IMC MHPSS case management set of tools.
  • Build and maintain a solid professional relationship with the clients and their surroundings including parents, siblings, relatives, neighbors, etc. with the client consent.
  • Provide psychological and social support to displaced Syrians/Iraqis and vulnerable host population at the primary health care centers and field levels.
  • Comprehend, fully understand and commit to IMC mental health case management model.
  • Work closely with the members of MH case management team (psychotherapist/psychiatrist) to develop and follow up on the intervention plans.
  • The case manager will be an essential source of providing accurate referrals and ensure adequate follow up of all cases referred.
  • Conduct outreach activities and home visits when needed and document it.
  • Prepare and conduct mental health awareness sessions using the relevant forms and background documentation developed and approved by IMC MH department.
  • Conduct PSS activities in accordance with the MHPSS senior management team and PSS trainer.
  • Prepare and conduct psychoeducation sessions using the relevant forms and MH booklets developed and approved by IMC MH department. Maintain accurate records, files. Case managers at IMC will attend any training relevant to assigned tasks internal or conducted by any other stakeholder after close coordination and approval of the direct supervisor Prepare, take-part and document Case Management technical meetings.
  • Case managers will work in close coordination with the MHPSS managers on issues related to the field in terms of identification of challenges encountered, gaps, provide all necessary information to ensure better implementation of activities;
  • Attend regular meetings with MHPSS managers on weekly or biweekly basis.

Reporting:

  • Case managers have to submit monthly technical meeting report to the MHPSS manager;
  • Case managers will be responsible for filling all relevant tools and should maintain regular updates in close coordination with the case management team;
  • Submit monthly reports, in addition to the data collection sheet that should be filled on a weekly basis to the MHPSS manager
  • Fill online medication consumption on a weekly basis.
  • Report any emerging issue first hand to the direct supervisor;
  • Provide reports on awareness raising and other PSS services that contain information regarding attendance, age, gender, nationality and impact of the session on participants.

Essential Qualifications:

  • University degree in Social Work (BA or Masters)/psychology or equivalent degree

Essential Experience: 

  • Adheres to ethical considerations and principles in regards to working with vulnerable populations.

Desirable Experience :

  • Previous experience in MHPSS
  • Previous NGO experience
  • Minimum 2 3 years in the field of social work.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills;
  • Good understanding of the project cycle and team work;
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment,
  • prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and ensure high quality work;
  • Emotional maturity and agility in working in a fast-paced environment;
  • Fluent in Arabic language ,basic Knowledge in English language
  • basic knowledge in Microsoft office
