Social worker- Hellok, Syria

Main responsibilities:

Networking, Mapping and regular update of services in your area using a tool which will include:

  • General information about the service provider including Contact details of the agency
  • Sector of intervention
  • Geographical coverage of the services at the community level
  • Description of the services provided
  • Referral criteria and modality (what service for whom) and information on accessibility
  • Opening hours, etc…Feed-back modality
  • To link with other local NGOs and create a referral system with their focal point in order to refer beneficiaries to their services.

 

Assess beneficiaries’ needs, his access to services and identify gaps

  • To evaluate the beneficiaries’ vulnerability factors and identify barriers to access services, the SW will fill in a tool which consists of:
      •  
  • Household information
  • Socio economic situation (Income, type of income, frequency of the income and the debt...)
  • Level of Access to basic services (Health, Shelter, WASH, HEI, food and education) and uncovered needs
  • Level of access to specific services (specific protection related services, MHPSS, physical and functional rehabilitation, etc.) and potential uncovered needs

Provide information to beneficiaries about available services in their areas

  •  Individual or group sessions could be organized. The SW will introduce the available services in the area and the way to access them

 

Responding to the identified needs by referring internally and externally as needed, respecting confidentiality and the right of the beneficiary

  • Referral can be done internally or externally for either basic services (Health, emergency livelihood either through in kind and/or cash assistance, shelter, food, WASH ….) or specific services (Protection services tackling GBV, child labour and other protection concerns, MHPSS, physical and functional rehabilitation, etc..…).
  • The referral form will contain a part to document the status of the referral and to collect feed-back from both the referred-to agency as well as the beneficiary.

 

Reporting data on beneficiaries follow-up and on the status of the referrals

  • Weekly report required or upon request
  • Coordination meetings upon request

 

Demonstrate willingness to improve professional competences and abilities to increase care quality:

  • Demonstrate a constant motivation at work.
  • Demonstrate willingness to improve her own knowledge and skills by participating actively in any training sessions and capacity building activities.
  • Participate in the different activities, meetings and training that are common to all HI team members
  • Respect each team member’s positions, work, and specialty;
  • Adapt to special situations or demands from line manager and from technical manager (reporting, etc)

 

Demonstrate flexibility for any other relevant activity to be made upon line manager request.

 

Demonstrate an ethic and professional practice:

  • Implement a ‘do no harm’ approach, remaining aware of the limits of your own scope of practice and seeking technical guidance whenever unsure.
  • Respect beneficiary confidentiality and point of view.
  • Respect and promote HI’s Policies and report to your line manager any non-respect of HI’s policies among the teams or partners.
  • Address needs and requests in a professional way.
  • Report any incident or act that causes any harm to beneficiary or to others.
  • Always interact with children with the presence of their parents or caregivers.
  • Always respect a refusal of treatment.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Social Work, Sociology or any related field 
  • 1-2 years of working experience in an NGO, iNGO is a plus
  • Fluency in English and Arabic. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, honest, highly responsible, and punctual.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability with a high sense of humanitarian work.
