Organizational background and mission brief
Mada is a non-partisan, non-sectarian Lebanese NGO, established and registered in 2000 in Lebanon which aims to reinforce the relationship between local communities and their natural environment for the satisfaction of their substantial needs.
As part of the Local Development Programme for Urban Areas in North Lebanon (UDP-NL) that is implemented by “ Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Gmbh “ in partnership with Mada Association and the Ministry of Social Affairs under a 5 months project entitled “Support to agricultural value chain actors in Minnieh-Donnieh: Immediate Assistance, Capacity Building, and Access to Markets”. UDP-NL is co-funded by the European Union and Germany.
The project aims at contributing to the sustainability and resilience of the Agriculture Sector in North Lebanon by supporting value chain actors in Minnieh-Donnieh to overcome shocks and sustain their activities. This will be realized through specific training, support, field visits, and follow-up.
Job Brief
Mada is seeking local consultants with experience of providing a range of Entrepreneurial training sessions (i.e. most important investment mistakes by farmers; financial planning tools and calculation of production costs; estimating sources of incomes, calculating revenues and calculate depreciation and draw up a replacement plan; determine the pricing elements of products, estimate sales and calculate the break-even point; using accounting tools, analyzing data and developing a financial plan) for farmers in Minnieh-Dannieh, North.
The selected consultant will work closely with the farmers, women, and youth, to train them on the topics mentioned above and create a healthy training environment while using interactive training approaches and provide support as necessary. Furthermore, the Mada project team will work in close cooperation with the selected trainer in order to ensure that training is adequately delivered.
Main responsibilities
- Develop a clear outline of sessions and timeline of training.
- Coordinate with the Mada project team for the schedule.
- Provision of onsite 10 days training over the period of one month (2 rounds of 5 training days each; 10 farmers/round).
- The consultant has to share the training curriculum that will be used to deliver the training sessions in both Arabic and English.
- Agree with Mada on the training approach and training curriculum.
- Develop pre and post-tests to assess the capabilities of the beneficiaries and to monitor their progress during training sessions.
- Monitor attendance of beneficiaries and report any issues to Mada’s coordinator.
- Prepare a final report
Minimum Qualification and experience
- 3 to 4 years of experience in delivering similar training.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering Entrepreneurial training sessions.
- Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills
Time Frame/Duration
The total period of the consultancy is 4 to 5 weeks. The training consultant is expected to start delivering training sessions to cooperatives in Mid-October 2021.
