Organizational background and mission brief

Mada is a non-partisan, non-sectarian Lebanese NGO, established and registered in 2000 in Lebanon which aims to reinforce the relationship between local communities and their natural environment for the satisfaction of their substantial needs.

As part of the Local Development Programme for Urban Areas in North Lebanon (UDP-NL) that is implemented by “ Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Gmbh “ in partnership with Mada Association and the Ministry of Social Affairs under a 5 months project entitled “Support to agricultural value chain actors in Minnieh-Donnieh: Immediate Assistance, Capacity Building, and Access to Markets”. UDP-NL is co-funded by the European Union and Germany.

The project aims at contributing to the sustainability and resilience of the Agriculture Sector in North Lebanon by supporting value chain actors in Minnieh-Donnieh to overcome shocks and sustain their activities. This will be realized through specific training, support, field visits, and follow-up.

Job Brief

Mada is seeking local consultants with experience in providing a range of business development services training (i.e. business model development; marketing principles and product development;  price fishing and mapping competition value; product distribution and deal-making; promotion, communication mix, and AD designing; selling skills and client service principles; sales and expenses estimation;  breakeven analysis; presentation skills; team building and management of cooperatives) for processing cooperatives in Minnieh-Dannieh, North Lebanon in addition to training on Cooperative Governance and management.

The consultants are needed to support the intervention by providing business continuity and business resilience training, coaching, and advisory services, and respond to a range of other business development needs in order to strengthen their sales and product development skills for better placement of food products in the market.

The selected consultants will work closely with the Cooperative members, mainly women to train them on the topics mentioned above and create a healthy training environment while using interactive training approaches and provide support as necessary. Furthermore, the Mada project team will work in close cooperation with the selected trainers in order to ensure that training is adequately delivered.

Main responsibilities

  • Meet the cooperative members and conduct a depth needs assessment in order to identify the areas of support needed and the set of skills required in addition to the training topics to be provided.
  • Develop a clear outline of sessions and a clear schedule and timeline of training.
  • Provision of onsite 10 days training over the period of one month.
  • The consultant has to share the training curriculum that will be used to deliver the training sessions in both Arabic and English.
  • Agree with Mada on the training approach and training curriculum.
  • Develop pre and post-tests to assess the capabilities of the beneficiaries and to monitor their progress during training sessions.
  • Monitor the attentdance of beneficiaries and report any issues to Mada’s coordinator.

Minimum Qualification and experience

  • 3 to 4 years of experience in delivering similar training.
  • Demonstrated experience in resolving cooperative specific challenges and successful development approaches
  •  Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills

Time Frame/Duration

The total period of the consultancy is 4 to 6 weeks. The training consultant is expected to start delivering training sessions to cooperatives at the end of September 2021.
