General Purpose of the Position
The MHPSS project director and psychologist is responsible of the direction of JRS Lebanon MHPSS Programme.
Main Responsibilities of the Position
Direction of the work of JRS at the field level
- To safeguard the vision, identity and unity of JRS at the project level.
- To know and understand well JRS policies and to implement them at the project level.
- To implement the project according to the approved Project Proposal.
- To submit to Country Office the required reports.
- To monitor and evaluate the Project progression.
- To submit suggestions to Country Office in order to improve the project s/he is in charge.
- To facilitate reflection on and evaluation of the project by JRS team.
Training of JRS Staff
- To conduct sessions on Psychological First Aid and recognition of symptoms indicating psychological and/or psychiatric condition.
- To conduct sessions on how to support persons in distress and trauma.
- To conduct sessions on self-care and stress handling.
- To Develop PSS Programs addressing the changing needs of JRS Projects.
Staff Care & Personnel
- To serve as a resource for the Home Visits Team Memebers.
- To collaborate with External Experts
- To Plan and facilitate common workshops with External Experts for JRS staff.
- To support team members in their work.
- To facilitate regular team meetings.
Counselling of Beneficiaries
- To conduct counselling of individual cases in JRS Projects in Jbeil, Bar Elias, Bourj Hammoud and Baalbeck.
- To identify and assess individual cases for referral.
- To follow-up on any referred case.
Administration & Finance
- To keep proper patient files
- To complete condensed reports of the activities done and the cases treated.
- To Submit monthly, six months and annual reports.
- With the JRS accountant, to administer to project’s finances and guarantee a proper accounting of all project expenses.
- To work with the Country Director and country finance officer to develop and submit the annual budgets to JRS.
- To ensure in collaboration with the finance officer that the project expenses always match the approved budget.
- To ensure that the monthly activity report reaches the Country Office in a timely fashion.
Advocacy
To share with the Country Director, Country Advocacy Officer, and the Regional Advocacy Officer about significant advocacy needs and relevant information from the field projects.
Ensures prompt execution of other tasks which are within the ambit of the position which may be requested by the Country Director as needs occur.
Qualifications & Skills
- University degree (MA, MSc) in Clinical psychology
Permission to practice the profession from the ministry of public health (licensed) - Minimum of 5 professional years of experience in the field
- Proven managerial experience
- Background in Trauma Therapy, GBV/Protection and communities of Refugees or Displaced people is an asset
- Knowledge on concepts of ethical practice such as confidentiality, empowerment, consent
- Strong understanding of refugee context and issues faced by refugees in Lebanon
- Knowledge on relevant law in Lebanon
- Knowledge of humanitarian sectors and actors in Lebanon is desirable
- Knowledge of English and Arabic both written and spoken is required
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to build relationships and trust with staff

- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
