Mobile Blood Drive Technologist - Working Schedule: Flexible - 42.5 working hours per week including weekends and holidays

Main Role
The Blood Transfusion Services (BTS) Mobile Blood Drive Technologist is responsible to handle blood donors during blood drives and perform technologist activities in BTS centers. 

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Operational Roles and Responsibilities

1. Assist with organizing and planning mobile blood drives in addition to performing stock on hand
2. Receive donor in a friendly way and process him/her according to blood transfusion services procedure
3. Enter donor demographic data and assign numbers to donors and donations
4. Perform adequate donor selection through an adapted questionnaire and referring to list of medical contraindications to blood donation
5. Collect whole blood from donor and give post donation care
6. Process blood collected into components according to blood transfusion services procedure
7. Perform mandatory tests on blood donations and enter results on log book and software
8. Perform blood grouping on blood unit according to blood transfusion services procedure manual
9. Put adequate labeling on blood products
10. Store and deliver blood products according to blood transfusion services procedure manual
11. Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed
12. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratories established performance specifications
13. Follow continuous medical education program through active participation in educational programs of the Sector
14. Handle potential hazardous chemical and biological agents and/or radiation sources in the workplace by complying with biohazard standards
15. Adapt to new technology and methods to enhance program effectiveness.

Function Specific Experience

• Willing to work long and irregular hours, shift duty and on public holidays as required
• Valid driving license
• Computer skills

Industry Related Experience

• Experience in similar volunteer-based organizations or humanitarian organizations is preferred
