Youth Database Officer

    1. Role and responsibilities: 

The Youth Database Officer is responsible for contributing to the development of Youth procedures across the AOs by daily organizing and maintaining the Youth Database and preparing relevant reports in line with NRC’s strategy and standards 

Generic Responsibilities: 

  1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines 
  2. Elaborate and maintain outputs database on a daily basis based on fields’ data collection sheet 
  3. Prepare data collection sheet for assistants and officers  
  4. Carry out data collection as required 
  5. Prepare surveys as required  
  6. Coordinate with the M&E department on data sharing 
  7. Prepare targets monitoring reports on a weekly basis 
  8. Prepare donor monthly indicators database 
  9. Ensure that NRC’s related activities are implemented within NRC’s Protection mainstreaming guidelines and report any breaches/concerns to the line manager and/or focal point for proper action 
  10. Ensure that all protection related detected cases are referred to the concerned referral focal point and to the related Protection Coordinator 

 

Specific responsibilities:

  • Elaborate, maintain and update Youth outputs database on a daily basis with data collected (paper and electronic) 
  • Upload Youth data to DHIS, Activity Info & NRC’s internal reporting system (or any other platform as needed) 
  • Prepare distribution & activity sheets for education Assistants. 
  • Assist in organizing and undertake surveys, FGDs, and questionnaires to monitor program implementation and impact; ensure collation of results 
  • Participate in data collection and monitoring activities, as required 
  • Launch and receive daily phone calls for beneficiaries (hotline referrals) 
  • Document all the phone calls from beneficiaries for the different activities and share it regularly  
  • Perform field visits as requested by the line manager, and support Youth teams 
  • Receive, update and follow up on referrals (Other NGOs, Field Referrals, Online Referrals) 

Critical interfaces: 

By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are: 

  • M&E technical specialist, M&E Database Assistant 
  • Other NRC core competencies staff  

 

    2. Competencies:

Professional competencies: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences information and data management, business management or other relevant fields 
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience in information management and analysis 
  • Good understanding of M&E approaches and techniques 
  • IT skills (knowledge of Excel essential; knowledge of Google Earth, Access, Mobenzi/Kobo or other database system preferred; knowledge of SPSS or other data analysis software) 
  • Previous experience in working in complex and volatile context is a Plus. 
  • Fluency in both Arabic and English/French, written and spoken
