Budget/Accounts Assistant

We offer a post of Budget / Accounts Assistant. The successful candidate will, under the supervision of the Head of Section, serve as technical and support staff to follow up on financial and legal aspects of cooperation programmes by: monitoring and controlling tendering procedures and calls for proposals, assisting in the preparation of contracts, verifying and processing financial transactions,  and following up on audit files.

The ideal candidate should have the ability to:

-analyse information with accuracy

-adapt to changing priorities or environment

-communicate efficiently

-work under pressure

-work in a multi-cultural team and establish good interpersonal relations at work

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Medically fit to perform the required duties
  2. Enjoys civil rights and permits for employment under local law
  3. Diplomas: To have either a post-secondary education attested by a diploma, or a secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post- secondary education
  4. Professional experience of at least 3 years in a field related to the job (economics, finance, accounting, audit, public administration, or other)
  5. Fluent knowledge of English and Arabic (minimum level B2)
  6. Good computer skills on MS Office tools, and ability to learn quickly how to use new IT tools

The following will be considered an asset:

  1. Knowledge of the European Union
  2. Knowledge of French (minimum level B1)
  3. Experience in dealing with rules and procedures concerning calls for proposals, calls for tenders, contracts, and/or audit
  4. Experience in working in an international environment

The procedure

After the deadline for applications, the applications will be reviewed by a Selection Committee set up for this purpose. The Selection Committee will prepare a short-list of candidates who are considered to be the most suitable for the post on the basis of a preliminary assessment of the information provided in their application letter and the supporting documents. The short-listed candidates will be invited to an assessment phase which will consist of an interview, during which the Selection Committee will assess the suitability of the candidates for the post.

The candidates who have not been short-listed will not be contacted individually; however, the Delegation will use the same means of publication as for this Vacancy Notice to inform the remaining candidates once the recruitment procedure has been completed and that a candidate has (or has not) been recruited.
