Mental Health Officer

Tasks

  • Planning and coordination of the mental health program’s schedule.
  • Ensuring patients are attended to on time.
  • Enrollment and onboarding of new clients/beneficiaries (for in-person and online sessions).
  • Weekly communication and follow-up with clients/beneficiaries of the mental health program and mental health staff team.
  • Conduct psychiatric referrals when requested by psychotherapists and clinical psychologists + follow-up on referrals.
  • Forecasting monthly fees needed and preparing cash request forms accordingly.
  • Upkeep of administrative documents, filing systems, and financial logs.
  • Data entry and reporting.
  • Maintaining safety and security of the center and mental health room(s).
  • Actively listening to clients/beneficiaries of the mental health program when in distress, provide basic psychosocial support when and if needed.
  • Address the concerns of clients/beneficiaries of the mental health program and share feedback/complaints with the coordinators.
  • Work with Helem’s multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality services are provided to clients/beneficiaries of the mental health program.
  • Attend internal and external meetings revolving around mental health.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Total understanding and execution of the “do no harm” and “non-discriminatory” principles.
  • Excellent understanding of SOGIESC and empathizing with the LGBTQI+ population.
  • Familiar with updated LGBTQIA+ terminologies, intersectional risks, and contexts.
  • Previous experience working closely with LGBT+ individuals.
  • Previous experience as a frontliner (in direct contact with applicants, clients, beneficiaries).
  • Previous experience and awareness on mental health basic matters (general knowledge).
  • Very good time management and organization skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, previous experience as a team member.
  • Basic knowledge and previous trainings or experience in psychosocial support.
  • Ability to evaluate the situation and prioritize tasks.
  • Previous experience in interviewing individuals, filling intake forms, filing systems, and administrative tasks.
  • Good reporting skills. 
  • Familiar with referral pathways and systems.
  • Ability to prioritize and detect high-risk cases amongst others.
  • Ability to work with emergencies.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and within strict timelines.
  • Knowledge of PHQ-9 and C-SSRS is a major plus.
  • BA in psychology or social work is a major plus.
  • Integrity and flexibility.
  • Fluency in verbal and written Arabic and English. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
