Background
USAID’s “Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement” (QITABI 2) is a five-year program seeking to improve learning outcomes for all students in public primary schools in Lebanon. Its activity targets an estimated 200,000 girls and boys, including those who are registered in second shifts of public schools.

World Learning has an immediate vacancy for its Beirut-based “Character Animator” for the USAID-funded Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement (QITABI II) in Lebanon. This position is for a Lebanese national.

Scope and Responsibilities

The project is aiming to produce digital e-content in line with the Lebanese curriculum for the English, French, Arabic and Math subjects - Grades 1 to 6 – with psychosocial support activities integrated and stand alone.
The Character Animator will work closely with the QITABI 2 Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), the Instructional Designer, Graphic Designer and Multimedia Specialist. She/ He will:

• Create/Rig Adobe Character Animator puppets from Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator artwork.
• Animate to dialogue track or narration script.
• Create animations from storyboards/sketches or from a brief from the Instructional Designer regarding the characters to be animated.
• Develop the look and feel of character movements.
• Review and maintaining animation standards.
• Revise sketches and animatics as per feedback from Instructional Designers.
• Animate character mood, emotion, facial expressions, movement -including walk cycles- and behavior.
• Apply motion capture to animation.
• Sync animation to dialogue (lip-syncing), sound effects, soundtrack, etc.
• Assist in integrating characters into animated scenes (After Effects projects) and background environments.
• Brainstorming with colleagues on the best creative solutions for the production.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS), or Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program in this field or a related discipline. Master’s degree is a plus.
• Proven track, supported by a portfolio, in Adobe Character Animator and/or Daz3D Studio.
• Video editing skills using Adobe Premiere or Adobe After effect.
• Creativity and eye for details.
• Good communication and time management skills.
• Ability to illustrate and storyboard.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet tight deadlines.
• Must have a positive attitude and be a team player.
