Nutrition - Health Consultant

Lebanon’s compounded socio-economic and COVID-19 crisis has severely affected the nutritional status of vulnerable populations. Their living conditions have been deteriorating over the past several years, and is likely to continue given the current trends in the coming period as well, while the chronic malnutrition is expected to increase. Many people do not consume an adequately diverse diet, reinforcing the cycle of undernutrition. Food scarcity leads to diets that are low in nutrient density, with negative impacts for children’s growth.

Responsibilities and essential functions:

  • Reviewing and analysing relevant documents and new evidences on subject matter.
  • Developing a detailed methodology and appropriate data collection tools.
  • Developing a mix of quantitative and qualitative data collection methods such as surveys, focus group discussions, key informant interviews, and field observation visits.
  • Meeting relevant stakeholders and conducting field visits to better understand the context.
  • Developing a comprehensive stakeholder map of all those involved
  • Preparing a summary of perceived weaknesses and gaps in the existing landscape.
  • Providing recommendations
  • Draft the final report at the end of the consultancy summarizing the methodology followed for the case study analysis and the results achieved
  • Present the findings

 

Qualification and requirements:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience related to the health and/or nutrition sectors in Lebanon with International and/or National NGOs, academic institutions.
  • Great understanding of MEAL tools, Needs Assessments, and Accountability to Affected Populations frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic.
  • Able to commute independently to sites
  • Flexibility and ability to work with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
