Job Profile

 

  1. Required qualifications, competences and experience

 Formal Qualification: 

    • diploma level or secondary school education or higher
    • first aid training courses certificate is a plus
    • holds a valid Lebanese driver’s license since more than 3 years
    • profound knowledge of Lebanese road traffic regulations

 

Professional experience:

 

    • at least 2 years’ work experience as a driver with references (min. 2 years in Lebanon)
    • advantage would be working experience in / for international cooperation agencies or companies
    • good knowledge of Lebanese regions
    • no major accidents in the past 7 years

 Other knowledge, additional competences:

    • good knowledge of the English and Arabic language (spoken and written)
    • good communication and cooperation skills
    • discipline and punctuality
    • Flexibility in organizing working time against respective compensation
    • dedication/commitment, reliable
    • experience and ability to act thoughtful while dealing with unexpected challenges

  1. Major Responsibilities
  1. Driving services
    • provides passenger transport within the different sites of implementation of the programme in an official car for the project/program staff, official visitors and guests closely cooperating with GIZ security management RMO
    • taking account of all available information on road conditions, accessible routes and locations in continuous exchange with GIZ security management RMO
    • record keeping of all vehicle movements and maintaining a diver’s logbook for vehicle log correctly and conscientiously (fuel, maintenance, oil change, spare parts, etc.) as per GIZ regulations
    • transports equipment, goods and luggage and always keeps them safe, and ensures the efficient and appropriate transport and establishment of equipment for the implementation of events outside the office 

 

  1. Vehicle management and car maintenance
    • self-initiative and independent execution of regular servicing and taking care of official GIZ vehicles as per service plan being responsible at all time for making available all relevant and required security and first aid equipment in the official GIZ vehicles as per national standards and GIZ regulations in close cooperation with GIZ security management and ensuring that all needed first aid kits are not expired facilitating regular update of car license, renewal and car insurance status.
    • ensures unrestricted availability of vehicles at all times and reports restrictions immediately
    • keeps the interior and exterior of the vehicle(s) clean
    • checks and refills oil, water, fuel, brakes and brake liquid, tire pressure, battery levels and the entire vehicle, headlights, brakes, bodywork for dents etc. regularly
    • responsible for the project vehicle documents and their good condition, keeping and monitoring of the vehicle logbooks for the vehicles of programmes and recording monthly maintenance
    • reports need for service and carries out minor repairs
    • immediately reports all involvement of the program vehicle in accidents, including minor accidents, damage, loss or theft of vehicle fittings

 

  1. Other duties/additional tasks:
    • Translate from/to English/Arabic when needed by a staff member
    • Supports with all necessary logistics related to events outside the office
    • Carries out minor repairs to office equipment
    • Assists with other office work of the projects
    • Carries out minor purchases for the project’s activities – handling petty cash/advance if needed
    • Accompanying cashier to bank when needed
    • Assist with workshop logistics when needed
    • Reports any incident that may affect his/her driving license entitlement, as well as any newly known health problems that may affect his/her ability to drive.
    • possessing a car is an asset

Description of the projects: CONTRA and PART

ConTra project is based in Beirut and works in vulnerable communities in Lebanon. It focuses on enhancing the living conditions in these communities. Two elements are combined and linked: a construction and a training component. The political partner is the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA). Together with this partner and the participating communities labour intensive infrastructure or maintenance and rehabilitation measures will be implemented (construction). These construction measures will be implemented through people who work in the local construction sector and have received short term training that is requested and needed for the respective job (training). The training also enhances the perspective of the people in the job market. The project works closely with the private sector.

 

PART project is a regional project which operates in Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan and Lebanon. PART Lebanon is based in Beirut und supports Palestinian refugees in order to improve the living conditions. The strategic partner is United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and the Lebanese Palestinian Dialogue Committee (LPDC). It partners as well with several initiatives and different civil society organizations. It is operating in all governorates in Lebanon – inside and outside the camps.
