World Learning – QITABI 2: English E-Lesson Developer Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement” QITABI-2 Program Background QITABI 2 is a five-year program seeking to improve learning outcomes for all students in public primary schools in Lebanon. Its activity targets an estimated 200,000 girls and boys, including those who are registered in second shifts of public schools. World Learning has an immediate vacancy for its Beirut-based “English E-Lesson Developer” for the USAID-funded Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement (QITABI 2) in Lebanon. Scope and Responsibilities The English E-lesson Developer will work closely with and report to QITABI 2’s Senior Literacy Technical Director to support in developing e-lessons for the G1-G6 literacy e-kit for public schools throughout Lebanon. The ideal candidate will have a focus on primary school education in English, with deep knowledge of the Lebanese English national curriculum and policies and will possess advanced technological skills. The assigned person will be able to: • Develop e-lessons based on the QITABI2 Holistic Learning Approach/Balanced Literacy Approach (HLA/BLA) template that align with Prerequisite and Core learning objectives based on the Lebanese English national curriculum for English students, grades 1-6. Lessons will integrate HLA (social and emotional learning (SEL), UDL/Learning styles& differentiated instruction, Connectedness) best practices including diagnostic, formative and summative assessment tools, strategies, and activities. Develop unit/ lesson plans aligned with primary Mathematics Lebanese curriculum including mathematical activities for CERD and MEHE when needed. • Identify materials in Lebanon’s Digital Learning Initiative (DLI) that can be used for primary or supplementary English learning activities for students’ grades 1-6. Create a library of these matching each of the fundamental prerequisites and core learning objectives for grades 1-6, noting also content and SEL themes. • Contribute in researching best practices in distance and blended learning in low resource contexts and create easy-to-read summaries of practices that can be adapted to the local context. • Contribute in developing teachers’ guides and resource packets to assist teachers in integrating the developed e-lessons into their teaching practice. • Participate in meetings and workshops. Requirements • Minimum 7 years’ experience teaching and designing curricula for grades 1-6 English in Lebanon • Knowledge of national English curriculum and policies in English • Fluent in Arabic and English • Excellent spoken and written English • Knowledge of classroom-based assessment systems • Facility in differentiated instruction • Excellent communication and collaboration skills • Positive response to constructive criticism and requests for revisions • Flexible schedule and ability to stick to tight deadlines Preferred Qualifications: • Experience working in public schools in Lebanon • Extensive experience in online or distance learning and teaching • Teacher training experience • Experience using the Balanced Literacy Approach • Knowledge of Understanding by Design • Familiarity with social and emotional learning (SEL) and/or psychosocial support World Learning is an equal employment opportunity committed to increasing the diversity of its workforce.
