Agricultural development project – Jezzine Lebanon

Context

IECD (Institut Européen de Coopération et de Développement) is a French non-governmental organization founded in 1988 and operating in the field of social and economic development in partnership with local institutions. IECD’s main sectors of action are vocational training and professional integration, assistance to micro and small enterprises and access to education and health for the most vulnerable. In Lebanon, IECD has been operating in the country since 1994 and opened a regional office in Beirut in 2007.

Semeurs d’Avenir (SDA) is a Lebanese association, created in 2010, registered under the number 1905. It is the operational partner of IECD in Lebanon.

In 2021, IECD is launching a pilot project in agricultural development, aiming to support the installation of new farmers providing them with arable lands and with the needed technical and management skills. This project targets motivated, vulnerable people looking for a new career opportunity while preserving the environment and adopting agro-ecology principles. The project is located in Jezzine surroundings. It includes 5 components: market gardening, aromatic plants, arboriculture, beekeeping, and processing.

During the first year of the project, 50 applicants will be delivered a series of technical training sessions coupled with on-the-job training and individual follow-up. At the end of this 1st phase, 17 beneficiaries will be selected for the second phase. They will be provided with specialized support and training sessions to help them set up their farm and develop their own culture.

Within this project, SDA is looking for an officer responsible for the outreach of the 1st phase beneficiaries.  

Mission

Under the responsibility of the project manager, the outreach officer will be responsible for the following:

1. Get to know the project content and objectives

• Understand in depth the project and its objectives to be able to answer the questions of the applicants and support for outreach.

2. Support the recruitment of the beneficiaries

-      Coordinate with the communication team for the dissemination of registration on the social media.

• Answer calls and questions from candidates and record their details.

3. Coordination

• Coordinate with the project manager / project team for recruitment priorities.

4. Reporting

• Fill in a recruitment tabs with the candidates’ details and share them regularly with the project manager.
• Weekly report on the progress of recruitment work to the project manager

Profile

Education: student in higher education, bachelor degree. Specialized in agriculture is a plus

Experience:  0 to 2 years, whether in private, public or in an international solidarity organization

• Previous experience in the social work sector is a plus
• Experience in multicultural context
• Experience with NGOs is a plus.
• Experience in agriculture sector is a plus

Skills:

• Excellent Arabic (oral / written) imperative
• Good oral and writing skills in English (French is a plus).
• Good representation skills
• Ease of work on Excel and Word
• Organizational skills and multitasking skills
