Case Worker

Job Overview

 

The Case Worker will coordinate the implementation of community-level protection activities  in designated areas, in particular case management (CM), develop trend analysis, information dissemination and referrals according to Donor standards in Protection work. The Case Worker will guarantee the correct and efficient implementation of the project’s activities and the overall supervision of the project teams.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES, MAIN DUTIES AND REPORTING:

 

Case Management:

  1. Detect, counsel and follow up individual cases identified by CP team or referred by other agencies; or through community services and protection monitors where applicable
  2. Conduct psychosocial assessment of vulnerable cases, including environmental, emotional, behavioral, and social factors as well as resources and strengths that impact the individual well- being;
  3. Conduct home visits to assess the living conditions of the cases, when needed
  4. Implement the activities related to individual CM in the intervention location in accordance with all CM steps and related tools and procedures.
  5. Support and manage the FPSS Facilitators in their daily activities; ensure distribution of tasks within the teams.
  6. Ensure the correct documentation and compilation of CM forms in accordance with all CM steps and related tools and procedure and ensure proper follow up on case management services.
  7. Ensure that all high-risk cases are addressed immediately for possible intervention.
  8. Work closely with the other organizations in order to ensure smooth referral and monitoring of required follow-up actions.
  9. Hold regular mentoring, trainings, and coaching sessions based on identified needs and gaps.
  10. Organize CM meetings with service providers and donors when needed.
  11. Provide ongoing support to the CW in the target area, ensuring proper and timely information flow, supervision and advice in complex cases.
  12. Undertake field visits  to provide technical guidance and supervision as well as regularly monitoring of the progress of the Protection project activities.
  13. Collaborate closely with the FPSS Facilitators in designated area to enhance possible synergies and closely monitor the psychological counselling service.
  14. Any other relevant activities or duties as required.
  15. Ensure the proper storage of sensitive data through a correct use of internal databases and case monitoring tools

 

 

 

 

Monitoring, Reporting & Evaluation:

  1. Contribute to the drafting of internal/external reports (weekly/monthly/and quarterly) according to SAWA and donor’s requirements ensuring that reports are of a high quality and submitted on time.
  2. Maintain regular and positive collaboration with the colleagues to harmonize approaches and methodologies of response, share challenges and best practices and ensure that protection is mainstreamed into the other sectors of intervention.
  3. Contribute jointly with the Information Management support to prepare monthly reports according to SAWA and donor requirements
  4. Ensure the effective filing and update of cases
  5. Provide daily and weekly updates to the Child Protection officer and or CP Program manager about new cases assessed as per internal rules
  6. Participate actively in weekly and monthly coordination meeting with the manager.
  7. Ensure a permanent monitoring of projects’ teams’ activities.
  8. Ensure timely and quality implementation of the work plan, in coordination with field teams
  9. Ensure smooth communication and coordination between the projects’ teams.

 

Coordination:

 

  1. Develop and maintain effective working relationship with stakeholders including partners, community leaders and service providers in the target areas for prompt referral, follow up and information sharing.
  2. Provide written feedback about protection incidents for CM.
  3. Proactively participate in protection and relevant inter-sectorial coordination meeting at field level, contributing to the development of guidelines, standards, tools and strategies.

     

  4. Ensure timely and proper feedback/communication to Donor on specific cases requests.

 

 

Training and Capacity Building:

  1. Attend all trainings planned and evaluate these trainings.
  2. Suggest any topic for future trainings based on the needed skill or knowledge.

 

General Policies:

  1. Follow the general policies, code of conduct, Child Safeguarding policy.
  2. Adhere to the PSEA policy
  3. Abide by the values and principles of all policies set by the organization.
  4. Perform other duties assigned by the direct supervisor.
REPORTS TO: 

CP Program Manager

 

EDUCATION AND Experience:
  • University degree in Psychology.  
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in social work preferably social work or case management, in humanitarian or development settings
  • Very good understanding of protection, refugee rights, international humanitarian principles.

 

SKILLS AND Competencies:

 

  • Good background information about child protection
  • Committed to equality and social inclusion
  • Good Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills
  • High confidentiality, respect, and non-discrimination attitude.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Team player, flexible, able to handle pressure well and work in cross-cultural setting;
  • High level of planning and organizing (ability to meet deadlines)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work effectively with others
  • Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children;
  • Staunch advocate of child protection and child rights;
  • Willingness to learn new skills and/or approaches
  • Ability to show initiative and take responsibility
