Shadda Media Lab is a media platform and a shared working space for media producers in Tripoli. 

Shadda was established at Shift Social Innovation Hub with the contribution of a group of youth, with the aim of promoting peace and positivity through informative, entertaining, and realistic content.

Shadda is the first media lab to offer its services directly to marginalized communities in the areas in Tripoli. Shadda also provides a safe space for workshops and content creation, in addition to providing the basic equipment for content creation for every young man and woman with the passion to create meaningful innovative content. 

 

Job Description

We are looking for a professional and creative trainer in alternative journalism, who will be facilitating “Journalist Mindset and Sensitive Topics Approach” training to a group of 25 individuals for 3 full days. He/she will be supporting the team in developing advanced experience in the different methods of journalism, including dealing with sensitive topics. The aim of the training is to improve the process of content creation that will be posted to our platform on social media.

The trainer will focus on developing and conducting training for the participants to better understand how to approach and deal with sensitive topics & being a journalist, leading to creating content on these topics, and acknowledge the importance of maintaining a decent approach as a journalist to sensitive topics related to different issues compatible with the project aims.

As a facilitator, you will be surrounded by academic and amateur participants, from different cultural backgrounds, who have a humble media experience. We expect that you are familiar with the essence of the content and the training to be interactive and to have a practical side.

The ideal candidate should possess relevant experience and knowledge of the strengths of the new media platforms. He/she must be a highly motivated individual with experience and passion for content making and marketing.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Your work aim is to teach and support the team in how to be a journalist and how to produce alternative digital content.
  • Get familiar with projects being prepared to plan the content accordingly.
  • It’s highly preferable that the training is interactive and has practical side.
  • You must be familiar with the action plan and planned trainings, to create your vision about the expected results and goal of the project.
  • You should coordinate the follow up with our mentor.
  • You should be taking into consideration the team's capabilities, available materials and logistics.

 

Qualifications:

  • Certifications and experience in media, alternative journalism & sensitive topics.
  • Strong facilitation and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Conflict Sensitivity Training is an Asset.
  • Experience in conducting trainings.
  • Excellent social and personal relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent English technical words knowledge.

 

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in similar specialization.
  • Experience and ability to deal with unexpected challenges.
  • Wide vision about the effective work on social media.
  • Have a high comfort level with diverse sensitive topics such as: social, political, economic.
