Legal Information Officer

Functions/Key Deliverables : 

The Legal Information Officer will conduct outreach visits to help reach the beneficiaries, as well as assist the project lawyers in providing legal information sessions. The post holder will perform duties across legal, programme and admin. A summary of key responsibilities is outlined below:

Legal

  • Provide free legal information and awareness to the eligibility and intake criteria of the programme;
  • Participate in regular trainings and workshops related to project activities as requested by the Project lawyer and Project Officer;
  • Conduct outreach and awareness sessions for targeted communities.
  • Attend regular meetings with project lawyers to report on progress, observations, and lessons learned.
  • Write regular activity reports and other reporting as required and agreed on with Project Lawyer.

Administration

  • Coordinate with Project Lawyers regarding activities’ schedule.
  • Coordinate activities held in the centre, including scheduling, coordinating with other staff, and reporting on events;
  • Ensure data and physical files are up to date and in accordance with LAW standards including attendance sheets, consent forms, expense reports and other documents required for the implementation of the activities;
  • Coordinate with the procurement/logistics departments for the project daily activities, fill purchase requests, and ensure the correct documentation is submitted to the Finance department.
  • Notes and minutes taking in meetings with the Project Officer, Lebanon Programme Manager or any other LAW staff who may need assistance during meetings with partners;
  • Accompanying the Project Officer and Programme Manager to field visits, taking notes, recording meeting minutes and undertaking any follow up specified by the Programme Manager;
  • Assist the project lawyers in organizing the physical case files based on LAW’s guidelines;

Other tasks as assigned by the Project Officer and Project lawyer .

Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor degree in Law;
  • Excellent written and spoken Arabic and English;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in providing legal assistance and awareness;
  • Knowledge and experience of criminal law, procedure, and/or human rights law;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience planning and coordinating conferences, roundtables and seminars;
  • Minimum 2 years of previous experience working with humanitarian/development NGO preferred;
  • Excellent organisational and analytical skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong technical literacy;
