The MENA Region Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation and Reporting (PMER) Unit is to strengthen the quality monitoring, evaluation, accountability, learning and knowledge management to enhance programme quality in humanitarian and development efforts, supporting them to remain partners of choice within their country and sustainable and accountable for their actions, providing sustainable results for people in need in line with S2030 and IFRC Plan and Budget 2025. The PMER shall ensure development of good monitoring and evaluation practices in 17 National Societies and ensure global IFRC/Movement standards for the accountability and evidence based informed management throughout the project cycle.

Job Purpose

Under the supervision of the MENA PMER Manager, the PMER intern will support the Regional PMER team with maintaining the standard of reports developed and reviewed, in addition to other PMER related tasks as per the need.  

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The PMER Intern’s role is to:

  • Support with the report development and management of reporting calendar
  • Support with maintaining the Quality of reports to meet the standards set by the IFRC PMER Team
  • Support with the translation of documents
  • Support with PMER related tasks as per the need
  • Support with administrative tasks

Support that will be provided for the intern

The PMER Intern will receive:

  • Experience on IFRC and RCRC Movement PMER approach
  • Experience on IFRC and RCRC Movement working modalities, policies and technical standards
  • Experience on IFRC procedures and technical standards in emergency contexts

Duties applicable to all staff

  • Actively work towards the achievement of the Federation Secretariat’s goals 
  • Abide by and work in accordance with the Red Cross and Red Crescent principles
  • Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager

Education

  • University degree in Political Science, Public Health, Translation, Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Studies, or other relevant areas of study - required

Experience

  • 1+ years of working and management experience in the area of expertise - required
  • Demonstrated experience in report development and design - required
  • Demonstrated experience in the International Federation or an organization within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, or in an international organization or NGO - preferred 

Knowledge, skills and languages

  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment - required 
  • Good communication, negotiation, management skills - required 
  • Focused on quality and standards - required

Languages

  • Fluent spoken and written Arabic and English - required
  • Good command of another IFRC official language (French) - preferred
