Field Assistant (WASH)

Job Overview:

The Field Assistant will work under the UNICEF-funded WASH project implemented in partnership with Lebrelief. Mada will be responsible for Hygiene Promotion and other soft activities (including community mobilization) in specific areas of T5.

Under the supervision of the Activity Manager, the Field Assistant will be embedded in the Lebrelief team to support the implementation and monitoring of provision of services to refugees and distributions. He/she will be trained by Lebrelief on processes, procedures and tools for proper implementation.

General Responsibilities 

  • Ensure proper and close coordination with Lebrelief during the entire project cycle.
  • Participate in the distribution of WASH items (water tanks, hygiene kits, baby kits, etc).
  • Support needs assessments through a participatory approach with the community.
  • Collect data at community and/or household level and conduct different assessment and surveys upon needs.
  • Support the provision of technical advice to beneficiaries on using the kits.
  • Support Lebrelief in the monitoring of service provision and construction activities.
  • Ensure timely updates for the tools and activities related to the water trucking and desludging.
  • Ensure that all the data is properly filed and archived including but not limited to assessments, family lists, handovers, MoUs and pictures, etc.
  • Support the collection of data at community and/or household level and conduct different assessment and surveys based on needs.
  • Maintain full qualitative and quantitative records and reports of activities, disaggregated by age, gender and diversity as appropriate. 
  • Support in all emergency action plans and humanitarian activities by Mada (if relevant).
  • Provide regular written and verbal reports to the Manager upon request. 
  • Participate in the COVID-19 response through assessments and distributions of IPC, disinfection and hygiene kits and conducting of awareness sessions to the beneficiaries.
  • Support the identification of beneficiaries requiring other services and full follow up of referral to other services.

Reporting:

  • Report to the Project Manager any problems or information that could affect the projects/activities, including security aspects.
  • Submit regular reports on the progress, challenges and action plan of the activities.
