“Advocacy” Trainer

Project Background:

As part of the project “Enhancing the inclusivity of the LGBTI community in workplaces in Lebanon”, which is funded by the European Instrument for Democracy & Human Rights (EIDHR), ACTED has selected MIDAL to implement a campaign focused on promoting human rights and inclusion of the LBGTQI+ community in the workplace. Therefore, the selected applicant will sign a contract with ACTED but will work for MIDAL.

 

About MIDAL:

MIDAL "Mediterranean Initiatives for development and Leadership" is a registered Lebanese organization, committed to serving vulnerable communities in Lebanon, through four community centers. The organization runs social, educational, relief, livelihoods, protection programs, women and youth empowerment, to serve as an inclusive and supportive organization for the entire community.

 

Assignment:

MIDAL is seeking a trainer to facilitate and contribute to the organization of a training on “Advocacy” for three youth groups of 20 each in three different locations in the South of Lebanon (Nabatieh, Hasbayya and Marj’youn), aiming at bringing together young people from various backgrounds to help them become more involved and heard in their societies, as well as advocate for their rights.

 

Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:

In close coordination with MIDAL, the trainer’s responsibilities are as follows:

  • Draft the training curriculum, including power point presentation and handouts in English and Arabic.
  • Conduct 1 half-day training for each youth group in the three locations mentioned above (3 trainings in total).
  • Provide a final report setting out the main lessons shared during the 3 trainings.

 

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Proven knowledge in advocacy trainings, or other related fields
  • Experience in developing and monitoring advocacy campaigns online and offline related to human rights in general;
  • Previous experience in conducting similar trainings for youth
  • Previous experience working with or for CSOs and/or NGOs is a plus
  • Working experience in a multicultural context
  • Proficiency in Arabic language (oral/written) mandatory

Trainers are expected to be available from 1 January 2021 until 15 February 2021. Please note that these are projected dates for scheduling purposes subject to further clarification on the specific dates of training.
