The objective of this consultancy is to conduct a gender research to understand the reasons behind the increase of violence during COVID-19 pandemic based on the following research questions:
- What is the understanding / perception of GBV by the community members?
- What are the root causes that lead to GBV cases (before and during the pandemic)?
- What are the barriers faced when trying to limit GBV cases?
- What are the ways to reach the change in such cases?
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
Develop the methodology:
- Validate the research questions set.
- Describe actions to be taken to answer research questions.
- Describe the rationale for the application of the selected procedures used to identify, select, process and analyze collected information.
- Provide gender expertise while designing the research tools and support.
- Explain how the results will be analyzed.
- Discuss validity and reliability of selected procedures/techniques.
- Indicate how the approach fits the overall research design.
- Discuss risks and ways of mitigation.
Data collection:
- Conduct 9 focus groups discussion in the targeted areas (3 focus groups in each area) with the support of FSF social workers.
- Draft and implement the study questionnaire for quantitative components and qualitative components.
- Identify the way to disseminate the questionnaire (100 respondents per area).
- Develop Consent form for focus group discussion and questionnaire.
Develop and complete data analysis using SPSS:
- Analyze the qualitative using coding technique to reach the most important points.
- Form the questionnaire that will ensure reaching the research objectives.
- Complete the data analysis for the quantitative data using SPSS.
Advocacy Phase: The consultant should coordinate and follow up with the advocacy consultant to develop the advocacy campaign based on the results of the conducted research.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Gender Studies or similar areas.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in research.
- Excellent writing skills in Arabic and English.
- Proficient in SPSS.
- Good analytic skills.
