Field Officer

I. INTRODUCTION

The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a Lebanese NGO registered at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities under no. 1186 on 18 June 2014 that aims to expand, manage, and protect Lebanon’s forests and landscapes through a community-based approach. We work on building resilient communities to environmental threats, increasing environmental awareness and education, advocating for forest conservation, and advancing research in the forestry field.

II. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

LRI is currently planning to start the implementation of three projects in several regions of Lebanon (Kesrwane-Jbeil, Matn, Rachiaya, Baalbeq-Hermel) and is looking to hire six Field Officers for those projects. The Field Officer at the Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is responsible to outreach targeted community through field visits and networking with existing networks. Assist in the planning of workshops, training, and other project events and activities as needed and maintain project records. S/he applies Field Officer principles and procedures, provides accurate and timely information to LRI Projects’ Manager and LRI Project Director, and ensures compliance.

The Field Officer is expected to perform the following duties:

  • Coordinate and supervise work crews on field sites.
  • Conduct daily monitoring visits to the sites and support other team members in field visits when needed.
  • Support in filling workers’ sheets and related Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning forms.
  • Take daily pictures of the sites before and after, and coordinate with the regional leader to ensure a proper implementation of the field work.
  • Collect field technical information and conduct needed surveys.
  • Prepare administrative documents and develop weekly progress report.
  • Communicate with the municipalities and local authorities or other public administrative organization.
  • Communicate with the hired workers all instructions and major decisions set by LRI team.
  • Support in any project-related activities on site or in the office.

III. REQUIREMENTS

The Field Officer should possess the following competencies, skills, and experience:

  • Good academic and proven practical knowledge in the field of community mobilization, coordination of community activities, social work, forestry, agriculture, or any related field.
  • At least 1-2 years of relevant experience working with rural communities.
  • Experience in field data collection.
  • Ability to conduct trainings, field visits and organize meetings.
  • Familiarity with international donors’ projects.
  • Strong analytical, communication and inter-personal skills and good flexibility.
  • Professionalism and ethical behavior.
  • Willingness to travel daily to the project sites.
  • Ability to drive with a valid driving license.
