Upcycling Service Provider

JOB OVERVIEw

SHiFT social innovation hub is implementing a child protection project in partnership with UNICEF in the areas of Jabal Mehsen, Tebbaneh, Kobbeh and surroudings including Amerken, Bekkar, Riva and Mashrou3 el hariri, mankoubin, and wadi el nahle to ensure protection mainstreaming for most vulnerable children in Tripoli. This intervention aims at supporting hard to reach children to get back on track and avoid having them involved in grave violations. In addition to implementation of community-based activities, this program tackles various perspectives from their daily lives, solid waste management being one of them. This program aims at raising awareness about upcycling and importance of solid waste management. Therefore, we seek the expertise of a specialist to conduct awareness raising sessions with all project participants’ in addition to providing each participant with a toy made out of recyclables and introduce caregivers to basic upcycling techniques.

Specialist should work in close coordination with project officer and PSS facilitator to better understand the background of the participants and design sessions based on their interests to capture their attention and encourage them to take part of this initiative “solid waste management for environmental and psychosocial support purposes” Upcycling/recycling specialist is expected to

• Conduct an initial meeting with entire team members to harmonize activities and incorporate solid waste management across programs.
• Conduct facilitation sessions to break the ice with participants and conduct interactive sessions that could prompt participants to take ownership.
• Build a good rapport with project management team.
• Work on recycled green toys to be distributed to participants
• Adhere to SHiFT internal rules and regulations.
• Any other tasks as project require.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Work on interactive induction to solid waste management.
• Work in compliance with the standard operating procedures and ensure confidentiality at all times.
• Provide management team with recommendations as deemed necessary.
• Assist the project team in identifying upcoming opportunities that would support in the incorporation of solid waste management across project activities and maybe extend to targeted communities.
• Overview challenges, assess situation and involve as much parties as needed to make this intervention a success.
• Adhere to interagency rules and regulations
• Provide continuous and timely feedback to upper management
• Provide follow up recommendations to promote sustainability and successful interventions.

Minimum required knowledge & experience:

• Degree or respective experience in solid waste management with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field.
• Good knowledge of the line of work and various programs and vulnerabilities.
• Ability to engage with team members in an open manner, maintain confidentiality and respect.
• Positive and professional attitude, and good organization skills.
• Great team leading and active listening skills.

• Strong Ability to handle pressure and sensitive incidents.
• Flexibility in implementation modality according to the prevailing situation.
• Fluency in Arabic required.
• Strong communication skills

Preferred

• Basic ability to communicate in English is an added value.
• INGO or NGO experience
• Experience working with refugee population
• Skilled at using basic computer programs – Microsoft Word and Excel
