Research & Project Coordinator - The Policy Lab

About the project: 

Within the wider programme “Policy labs: solving social problems in the MENA region using new methodologies of civic engagement” in collaboration with the UNiversity of Bath (United Kingdom), Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD, in Jordan), The Friedrich Ebert Foundation Regional Office (Tunisia), the project aims to develop a reflexive policy lab model in Lebanon that analyses the processes of social policy making in Lebanon, with the active involvement of end users and citizens. 

Main Tasks:

The Research and Projects Coordinator ensures the overall, strategic, and day-to-day management of the action-oriented research projects under their responsibility, ensuring that the knowledge produced is scientific, and contributes to the uptake of research results and underscoring their significance to diverse audiences, and disseminates scientific information in a variety of outputs. 

Under the direct supervision of the co-directors, the RPC’s main tasks include:

1) Research 

• Develop literature reviews, and undertake systematic review of current social policies in Lebanon;
• Undertake field research using a variety of methodologies and techniques;
• Develop a comprehensive stakeholder mapping to inform the design of the policy labs and the development of a civic engagement plan for the duration of the project; 
• Organise and launch the policy lab model via initiating public engagement with a wide range of stakeholders through face to face and online dialogue sessions  in order to develop project buy-in and agree common goals and outcomes. Based on the literature review and consultations, define themes and stakeholders to engage with in the Policy Labs; 
• Prepare plans for the case study to emerge from the Policy Lab events in  Lebanon. Deliver two adapted Policy Labsper year. Solicit stakeholder feedback and undertake analysis of the Policy Labs and research findings taking into consideration the effects of Covid-19 on diverse populations; 
• Analyse findings, and publish them in a variety of knowledge products: scientific papers, short articles, reports, policy briefs, blog posts, infographic materials, etc.;
• Disseminate research insights and findings in scientific and other knowledge sharing events and other media.

2) Project Management

• Provide coordination, effective management, and leadership to projects under their responsibility;
• Manage the projects by planning and tracking project activities in accordance with the projects agreements;   
• Establish work plans, set performance targets and indicators, and identify challenges and strategies to achieve project aims; 
• Ensure sound management of grants, leading on the coordination, preparation, and submission of donor reports, under the supervision of the co-directors and in collaboration with other departments as needed;
• Ensure implementation is in compliance with internal policies as well as donors’ policies and procedures.
• Participate in the centre’s resource mobilization efforts. 

Perform other related tasks as required. 

Note: A more junior position might be considered, salary will be commensurate with experience and education, as per the centre’s salary scale.
