Programs Officer - Grants

Anti-Racism Movement (ARM) is a non-governmental organization working to dismantle systemic racism and achieve social, economic, and gender justice for migrant workers and racialized groups in Lebanon since 2011. Migrant Community Center (MCC) is a safer space for migrants living under Kafala. MCC works with migrant domestic workers to improve their living and working conditions and build their capacities to self-advocate for their rights as agents and leaders of change. Its programs include community-building, capacity-building, psychosocial wellbeing, community-led initiatives, and advocacy.

 

Role Profile

Comprehensive Information

Position: Programs Officer - Grants (six months contract, with possibility of extension)

Department: Organizational Development

Reporting to: Fundraising Manager

Location: Beirut

Working Hours: 40 hours per week

 

Job Purpose

To help ensure the financial sustainability of ARM through the development of project proposals, maintaining donor relationships and high-quality reporting.

Areas of Contribution & Related Accountabilities

Work with Donors 

The jobholder's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following tasks: 

  • Proposals: drafting proposals in response to appropriate calls for funding, in line with ARM’s strategic plan and frameworks, in order to secure funding for planned and ongoing activities and projects.
  • Reporting: compiling and sending reports to donors on the implementation of projects and activities they are funding, and updating donors on all major decisions, changes, or organisational news in a timely fashion.
  • Point person for donors: communicating directly with a portfolio of donors regarding proposals, reports, requests, queries, etc.; creating and maintaining positive relationships with donors; being the liaison between ARM staff and donors.
  • Actively searching for new opportunities for donor funding when needed to cover our expenses and to begin new activities or projects within our capacity, as well as to diversify our sources of funding.
  • Proactive communication with donors: sending periodic updates (besides reports) to inform them of ARM & MCC news and events, invite them to attend, etc.

 Programs development

The jobholder's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following tasks: 

  • Project Development: supporting the Programs team and team managers to develop projects that are in line with ARM’s vision and mission and available funding.
  • Financial tracking and reallocation: Identifying and responding to changes as per team manager updates and requests to ensure that short-term funding needs can be met and project changes can be made, including planning, writing and submitting reallocation requests to donors.
  • Information sharing within ARM of contractual arrangements with donors to support teams to follow conditions, including attending regular meetings, leading ad hoc capacity building, updating the internal donor database and sharing with relevant staff.
  • Other related tasks as needed.

Communications & Work Relationships

Internal Communication

  • Regular contact with the Fundraising Manager
  • Regular contact with MEAL, Programs Manager  and Accounting and Finance Manager
  • Occasional contact with all team leaders

External Communication

  • Regular contact with donors and individual contributors
  • Occasional contact with potential partners

Framework, Boundaries, and Decision-Making Authority

The jobholder suggests possible solutions to the Fundraising Manager for final decision-making and takes necessary actions once approved.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • University Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Media/Communications or a related field.
  • Experience in writing detailed project plans and/or proposals is required. Experience in writing or research in related fields will also be considered.
  • Experience required:  4+ years.
  • Knowledge and understanding of NGO and humanitarian work.
  • Knowledge and understanding of migration issues and the situation of migrant workers in Lebanon.
  • Excellent command of English is required. Arabic and French knowledge also assets.
  • Comfortable leading on their own work and working alone.
  • Good Microsoft Office & online research skills; fundraising information management knowledge helpful.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral expression, strategic thinking, coordinating different people's efforts.
  • Very good organizational and time management skills, proactive, self-motivated.
  • Extremely organized and reliable.

Schedule and Salary

  • Schedule: 40 hours/week.
  • Salary: $1,400-$1,900/month, depending on experience

Timeline

  • Deadline for Applications: January 31, 2022
  • Starting Date: February 2022
  • Period of Employment: six-month renewable contract.
