Freelancer Graphic Designer

The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s worldwide cultural institute. We promote knowledge of the German language abroad and cultivate international cultural cooperation.

The Goethe-Institut Lebanon is implementing since 2019 the project FANTASMEEM, which aim is to support the design industry in Lebanon as part of the Cultural and Creative Industries through targeted capacity building, fostering cultural / social / environmental entrepreneurship, and encouraging collaborations and knowledge sharing.

Ebtedy, the Knowledge Platform on Cultural and Creative Industries is implemented by the Goethe-Institut Cairo since April 2019. The platform makes information and practical tools in Arabic and English available, offering free online resources, best practice examples and lessons learned from creative and cultural actors in the MENA region as well as capacity building measures such as training programs and mentorship. It belongs to the same umbrella project like FANTASMEEM, promoting the emerging markets of cultural and creative industries in Africa and the Middle East.

The Goethe-Institut Lebanon is looking for a Graphic Designer for English and Arabic content starting mid of February 2022 or later until end of November 2022 to work as a freelancer on the two independent projects FANTASMEEM and Ebtedy.

Services to be provided by the Graphic Designer: 

• Familiarization with the content, structure and needs of both the FANTASMEEM and the Ebtedy Projects
• Concept, design and application of visuals (in Arabic and Latin letters) in accordance with the existing branding and visuals of FANTASMEEM for all activities of the FANTASMEEM project online and offline. The same services are required for Ebtedy as well
• Concept, design and application of main visual (in Arabic and Latin letters) in accordance with the existing branding and visuals of FANTASMEEM for online/offline communication for FANTASMEEM project. The same services are required for Ebtedy as well
• Concept, design and applications of event-related communication for both FANTASMEEM as well as Ebtedy projects           
• Designing a visual identity for a FANTASMEEM related project
• Launch various social media campaigns to increase the visibility of FANTASMEEM and its activities, to provide exposure for designers from FANTASMEEM's network as well as other designers, and to increase the relevance of FANTASMEEM for designers in Lebanon (tips and opportunities) The same services are required for Ebtedy as well to increase the visibility of the knowledge platform, to provide exposure to its alumni and the topics features on Ebtedy in the creative scenes in Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq.

 The requirements:

• At least three years of professional experience in graphic design with a focus on the combination of Latin and Arabic letters
• Proven experience in the design, development and successful implementation of visual strategies for online and offline communication, professional experiences in the cultural field
• Proficiency in English and Arabic, both spoken and written
• Good knowledge of the Lebanese cultural scene
