The Global Health Institute (GHI) at the American University of Beirut is looking for a Communications and social media intern to join its team.
The communications intern will work closely with the GHI communication team on a variety of tasks including but not restricted to:
- Promoting project plans, and contributes to day-to-day promotion of GHI’s programs through social media platforms (posts, stories, captions, hashtags…)
- Work with communications team members to create, conceptualize and implement communications strategies and campaigns through online media
- Coordinate all aspects of online communication, including video, publications, website and social media activities, in order to support effectively the strategic objectives of GHI
- Devise and implement creative and impactful marketing strategies for raising GHI’s visibility, and profile
- Create specific campaigns for long-term projects to meet agreed strategic priorities, income generation targets, and audience development objectives
- Monitor and research influencers, social media trending topics and tools
- Ensure that relevant audience is reached with our communication campaigns, as well as regular monitoring and evaluation of campaigns and activities to effectively measure the return
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Marketing, Communication, or a related field
- High proficiency in English and Arabic
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of marketing and communication principles, guidelines and best practices, including social media
- Excellent editing, proofreading, presentation, and interpersonal skills with a strong attention to detail
- A strong sense of cultural awareness, the ability to work in teams and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint), Canva, and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube) is a must.
- Knowledge of Adobe creative suite or any other design applications is a plus
- Must be creative, resourceful and take initiative even when given minimal direction
