Accountability Assistant

Background: International Medical Corps is a global, humanitarian, non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs. In Lebanon, International Medical Corps works to ensure access to quality health services for Syrian refugees, vulnerable Lebanese and other persons of concern by supporting a network of about 50 primary healthcare clinics and dispensaries across the country.
In order to monitor the performance and effectiveness of the programs, and to improve the delivery of future projects, the MEAL department is responsible for designing and implementing the M&E activities of the project; monitoring the project activities on a regular basis, preparing reports on project progress, ensuring accountability and collection & analysis of different data in relation to the project activities.

Job Purpose: International Medical Corps’ (IMC) commitment to accountability, meaning the responsible use of power, requires us to understand the needs of the people we serve, in dynamic operating environments and under frequently changing circumstances. The Accountability Assistant is responsible for assisting the accountability officer in the implementation of the accountability mechanism and ensuring the fulfillment of IMC’s minimum accountability standards especially in regards to information sharing, beneficiaries’ participation, complaints and response mechanism, and accountability in monitoring and evaluation. The accountability assistant will be handling the collection of complaints through the various channels and entering them promptly into the database. In addition, the assistant will provide support in the referral and follow-up processes.

Main Responsibilities:
• Collect feedback and complaints through the various accountability channels (hotline, Whats’App, SMS, individual complaints forms, emails)
• Enter all the needed information in the database and ensure follow-up
• Ensure the confidentiality of information collected from beneficiaries
• Assist senior accountability officer in organizing and conducting focus-group discussions and other community events in all catchment areas (BML, South, Akkar, Tripoli and Bekaa)
• Travel to field when necessary in order to ensure beneficiaries’ participation and monitor data collection
• Report findings to the senior accountability officer on a daily basis
• Any other task as assigned by the supervisor

Essential Qualifications: Degree in Social Work/Social Sciences or equivalent

Essential Experience: 0-1 year experience

Desirable Experience: Familiarity with work of NGOs and with refugees is desirable

Essential Competency: 
• Proficiency in Arabic and good command in English
• Good knowledge in Microsoft tools

Desirable Competency: Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality
