Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international humanitarian organization that delivers impartial medical care to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from health care in over 70 countries.
MSF has been working continuously in Lebanon since 2008. Today our operational teams work all over the country delivering quality, free of charge medical care to those who need it.
MSF Lebanon Branch office is part of the MSF international movement. Our team is composed of 20 full time employees based in Beirut and Cairo working together in the areas of international field recruitment, communications and medical operational support.
From Lebanon and Egypt, we work regionally and contribute globally to MSF’s medical humanitarian response.
Main Purpose:
Performing the tasks of transporting authorized goods and passengers in an MSF vehicle, ensuring its technical and safety conditions and respecting the country's traffic rules and MSF security rules, in order to provide a safe, smooth and efficient service. Also, deal with all maintenance and errand requests as instruct ed by line management and required for the best function of MSF premises, its guesthouses, its warehouses and all other premises.
Accountabilities:
- Checking daily, the technical conditions of the assigned vehicle (state of the tires, oil, fuel, brakes, radio equipment, spare parts, etc.), performing weekly check according to the MSF Logbook, refilling it when necessary, and keeping it clean to ensure it can be driven in perfect conditions.
- Carrying out a documented hand over when delivering or receiving a service Vehicle irrespective of the receiving party, the checks should at a minimum cover the following, vehicle body (Indents, scrapings…), overall mechanical state (Engine and gears), leaks and tires.
- Ensuring the security of passengers in the vehicle, driving carefully, observing speed limits and traffic rules in the country as well as MSF security rules, in order to avoid car accidents.
- Ensuring all passengers have all necessary papers in order before travelling and ensuring non-MSF car occupants sign disclaimers of responsibility before using the vehicle, as well as secure line management approval for the transportation.
- Ensuring correct loading and unloading of the vehicle, submitting the documents to the receiver of the goods, checking the status of delivered goods, returning the duly completed documents to Logistics and ensuring that the goods have the necessary documents
- Ensuring that all vehicle documents and the driver's driving license are valid and in the vehicle.
- Informing the line manager of any incident involving the transportation of passengers and/or goods.
- Knowing how to use all types of radios, codes, call numbers and radio alphabets by heart and communicating with base according to MSF communications policy to inform the driver's position and any potential implications.
- Knowing and respecting the security rules related to vehicle movements, specifically those related to customs, checkpoints and roadblocks. Ensuring all know and respect the security rules.
- Deliver packages from and to MSF as requested by line management
- Run errands and deliver errands to MSF premises including gaz canisters, water and other items as requested by line management
- Ensure all IPC measures per MSF regulations are respected (Sanitization, PPEs, ventilation…)
- Maintain a daily vehicle log to be filled and reported to line management
Maintenance Accountabilities:
- Follow up on all maintenance requests in a timely manner for all MSF premises and as requested by line management
- Conduct regular visits to MSF premises per an established preventive maintenance schedule (Including on ACs and heating systems), and on improptu requests to answer to maintenance needs
- Report on issues and accompany non MSF handymen present on MSF premises to ensure work is conducted per MSF standards
- Define and report on all maintenance and general needs in premises to line management
- Undertake small maintenance needs as requested by line management per a defined list of requests. Maintenance needs will cover electrical, plumbing, Masonry, carpentry and windows among other.
- Undertake any other request in line with this position as requested by line management
Requirements
Driving Experience (Minimum requiremnts) : Essential 4 years minimum of previous driving experience
Desirable in MSF or other NGOs
Maintenance Experience : Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance
Minimum Requirements:
- Working knowledge of household electrical circuits and electrical installations
- Working knowledge of household plumbing
- Working knowledge of masonry
- Working knowledge in wall painting
- Working knowledge of carpentry
- Working knowledge of tiling and related matters
