Digital & Multi Media Production Officer - Part time 80%

MSF Lebanon Branch office is part of the MSF international movement. Our team is composed of 20 full time employees based between Beirut and Cairo working together in the areas of international field recruitment, communications and medical operational support.

From Lebanon and Egypt, we work regionally and contribute globally to MSF’s medical humanitarian response.

Position Background

MSF’s operations in the Middle East and North Africa region have been increasing since 2011. As conflict and epidemics continue to spiral in the region, MSF’s need to bolster its visibility, acceptance, and leverage became higher than ever. In 2016, MSF launched the Beirut Communications Hub to work in coordination with existing MSF communications structures in the region to support in achieving MSF’s communication objectives in the MENA. In 2018, the Beirut Communications Hub is expanding to encompass a digital team that aims at growing the organization’s digital footprint in Lebanon and the region.

JOB OVERVIEW

 

OBJECTIVE

The Digital & Multimedia Production Officer will be part of the Communications and reports to the Digital Unit Manager. It’s a full time position based in Beirut. S/he will work closely with all the members of the Communications team in Beirut, also with the Field Communications teams in Lebanon, in the MENA region, and across the movement on improving the quality and quantity of MSF’s inhouse audio and video production in Arabic.

 

The Digital & Multimedia Production Officer will be producing content for operational communication as well as institutional communication like the MSF recruitment and branding campaigns in addition to some internal projects.

The Digital & Multimedia Production Officer will work mainly on video production and develop strong visual stories about contexts where MSF works and highlights the experiences of its beneficiaries. S/he will mainly be a video editor and a multimedia designer with strong skills and experience but must be able to build (and film in) a basic in office studio or in the field (complex environments), and must be able to find creative solutions and make the best of limited resources.

S/he must have strong storytelling skills mainly producing for social media channels but also for news wires and must oversee developing/updating policies and standards for digital production workflow, maintaining organized archives in video and video equipment.

 

Main Responsibilities                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

 The Digital & Multimedia Production Officer must be able to find creative solutions and make the best of limited resources. The person must have strong storytelling skills mainly producing for social media channels but also for news wires and occasionally documentaries.

  • S/he will be in charge of developing, updating policies and standards for digital production workflow and maintaining organized archives in video. S/he will also be in charge of maintaining video equipment.
  • S/he will be producing content for operational communication as well as institutional communication like the MSF recruitment and branding campaigns in addition to some internal projects.
  • S/he will work mainly on video production and design to develop strong visual stories about contexts where MSF works and highlights the experiences of its beneficiaries.
  • S/he will mainly be a video editor and a multimedia designer with strong skills and experience but must be able to build (and film in) a basic in office studio or in the field (complex environments), manage interviews in both English and Arabic and take photos.
  • Edit video footage to create video stories in Arabic and English for MSF social media platforms and websites
  • Post the communication packages: Videos, posters, photos, posts with captions on MSF Lebanon social media platforms
  • Support photo production (editing and upload on the media database)
  • Participate in the creation of multimedia content (from concept to final export)
  • Organize and maintain video and design workflow
  • Ensure proper archiving on MSF Media database
  • Provide training sessions on audio video production, editing, and mobile journalism to colleagues with different levels of experience
  • Manage video/photo equipment
  • Advise and produce multimedia content for internal communication (videos for training, presentation, events…)
  • Follow up on distribution of MSF produced documentaries (technical aspects)
  • Work with other audio video officers across the MSF movement and in the region to unify visual guidelines, standardize quality, and work on collaborative projects
  • Act as a commissioning editor for external suppliers

 Qualifications

  •  Bachelor degree or higher in Audio-visual technologies or equivalent
  • At least four years of professional experience with filming, editing and script writing
  • Have a photography and film or multimedia journalism portfolio
  • Interest in social media and digital communication
  • A good judgment of ethical aspects of communication, copyright and legal aspects
  • Knowledge of the international broadcasts standards
  • Experience in multimedia or web-based interactive productions is an asset of the Mac environment
