BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST - CALL FOR CONSULTANTS

Under the supervision of the JPIIF Value Chain expert and in team with FJPII technical staff, the Consultant has to facilitate, guide, develop and follow the implementation of business plans for agricultural cooperatives, by adopting a participatory approach, after conducting an in-depth and participatory analysis of the cooperatives needs, business costs, financial needs and market analysis.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Meet cooperative’s members or informal group of farmers and conduct a depth needs assessment to identify the areas of support needed and the set of equipment and skills required in addition to the training topics to be provided.
• Facilitate and guide the cooperatives /informal groups in the implementation of business plans and investment plans for their agricultural cooperatives.
• Facilitate and guide the cooperatives /informal groups in identifying risks and creates mitigation plans for the cooperative’s activities.
• Facilitate and guide the cooperatives /informal groups in building a detailed financial analysis showing all the assumptions, drivers, and financial statements for the next 3 years
• Conduct a market analysis for the cooperative’s business, assess major industry trends affecting the business, and describe what impact these trends may have on the business.

The expected outputs include:

 Business plans for 7-10 cooperatives/informal groups of farmers and food processors and one coalition of cooperatives

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Degrees/qualifications in economy, business development, finance and/or marketing.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in strategic planning and/or business analyst.
• Experience in dealing with the cooperative sector and other forms of producers’ organization
• Good knowledge of the rural Lebanese contest, in particular related to farmer communities
• High interactive and communication skills, enabling the candidate to mobilize and guide groups towards the objectives of the analysis
• Experience in elaborating and achieving similar studies
• Excellent English and Arabic communication (oral and writing) skills
• Strong analytical and critical thinking
• Dedicated and organized

SELECTION CRITERIA

CVs will be pre-selected according to their coherence with the required below criteria:

1. Administrative compliance

• Complete documentation (CV, cover letter, methodology and work plan, etc.)
• Language of application as required
• Respect of deadlines

2. Technical criteria

• Degrees, and qualifications
• Years of experience related to strategic planning and/or business consultancy
• Previous business plans, processes and/or procedures developed
• Previous experience related to farmer cooperatives / food processing cooperatives and knowledge of the rural Lebanese contest

Selected candidates will be called for interviews. Interviews will take place in JPIIF Foundation HQ, Rue Gouraud, 191 Gemmayzeh, Beirut office.
