First Step Together Association is looking for an educational consultant to work in part time within a project targeting Syrian children with disabilities in the North Lebanon Region.

The purpose of FISTA’s activities is to protect, educate and ensure respect for children with disabilities independently from any political, financial or military objective and making no distinctions on the basis of nationality, race, gender, religious belief, class or political opinions.

FISTA’s Vision is a community, where each individual with disability is entitled his full rights.

Senior Educational Consultant tasks

 

An education consultant makes a meaningful difference in how education is delivered and received. Being a guiding force in improving opportunities and classrooms, education consultants find themselves shaping the academic lives of students.

 

Main duties include:

 

  • Provide parental guidance for caregivers.
  • Confer with parents, to promote students' educational, physical, and social development and to raise awareness on the protection.
  • Train parents on positive parenting
  • Design a training module with FISTA specialists to forecast the inclusion of persons with disabilities within the regular system
  • Develop and customize training in collaboration with the team for the teachers from mainstream schools
  • Develop the skills of teachers from mainstream schools on the individual educational plans
  • Assess education standards and classroom policies,
  • Coach teachers implement changes to curriculum based on the capacity of the students.
  • Plan and organize case studies.
  • Report on the effectiveness of current academic systems within the targeted schools
  • Devise strategies to improve educational quality and help implement new policies.
  • Recommend different educational materials.
  • Implement and guide usage of new technologies.
  • Advise academic intervention programs.
  • Design a training module on the children protection an safeguarding policies.
  •  Meet with administrators, specialists, and teachers within the targeted mainstream schools to discuss programs.
  • Report and coordinate directly with the director in all the above-mentioned responsibilities.

 

Educational consultants can offer general consultation on educational practices.

 

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

 

The consultant should possess the following competencies, skills, and experience:

  • A bachelor or master degree in special education or education
  •  At least 5 years of experience in the field of coordination or consultancy.
  • Possesses very good   trainer skills
  • analytical and adept at decision-making
  • Attentive to details and well organized
  • Oriented toward service
  • Good at planning and organizing
  • Empathetic and sociable: Able to offer solutions and connect with students, teachers, and school officials
  • Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively with other team members
  • Able to meet aggressive deadlines
  • Qualified with a degree in curriculum and instruction or education leadership.
  • Fluent in Arabic, French or English
