Field Support

INTERSOS is a non-profit humanitarian aid organization that works to bring assistance to people in danger, victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts. Established in 1992 with support from the Italian Federation of Trade Unions, its actions are based on the values of solidarity, justice, human dignity, equal rights and opportunities for all people and respect for diversity and coexistence, paying particular attention to the most vulnerable and the unprotected.

INTERSOS identifies with the core values of CONCORD, the European Confederation of NGOs; it adheres to international codes of conduct for humanitarian organizations and the values and principles expressed within those codes. INTERSOS is recognized by the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the European Commission and the principal UN agencies; it is privileged to hold an advisory status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

INTERSOS is an independent association which, through its own humanitarian operators, intervenes to effectively answer the needs of people in serious crises situations, mainly in the world's poorest regions, who are suffering, deprived of rights, dignity and essentials goods. It maintains a flexible operating structure. The head office in Italy coordinates, supports and monitors the planned activities in the countries of intervention carried out by decentralized offices.

Job Title      : Field Support

Reports to          : Project Activity Manager

Duty Station       : Tyre office and Roving between Marjayoun, Hasbaya, Nabatieh and Bintjbeil

Position Type     : Full Time

 

 

Job Purpose:

 

With the support and supervision of the Project Activity Manager, the Field support is responsible to ensure that the centers’ logistical and administrative needs are met. She/he will ensure the link between Tyre base office and the safe spaces for logistic and administration issues related to the day-to-day management of the centers.  

 

The field support will also oversee, with the support of the social workers, the implementation of the community-based initiatives. She/he will be responsible to ensure that they are fully equipped and ready to host the participants. He will report directly to the Project Activity Manager through weekly reports and plans.

 

 

Generic Duties:

 

  1. Ensuring proper coordination between the Office and the safe spaces (and other areas where the activities are implemented)
  2. Supporting the activities in the centres through the development of a proper work and supply plan linked to the logistic and administrative needs regarding the management of the centers.
  3. When asked from logistics or project management liaising with local suppliers and landlords to ensure the smooth implementation of activities in the centres.
  4. Work closely with the Safe Spaces to strengthen coordination and collaboration between INTERSOS projects in the same area of intervention  
  5. Carry out the distributions of the kits to the relevant beneficiaries and monitoring their documentation through distribution lists.

 

 

Other Specific Duties:

 

(Can be adapted to the particularities of the job location and the requirement of the project. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired).

 

  1. Support the logistics team in the procurement process by filling out quotations and establish a monthly procurement plan in coordination with the Project Activity Manager and the team.
  2. Delivering HR and logistics documents as well as material from the safe spaces to the Office and vice versa
  3. Collecting the need request of the centres and submitting the purchase requests under INTERSOS management platform after approval of the Project Activity Manager.
  4. Liaising with the social workers and Project Activity Manager and logistician for weekly car schedules, movements, and meetings, etc.
  5. Managing the liquidity in proper way, provide on time the right justification papers at the administration
  6. Ensuring smooth communication and coordination between the centres and office.
  7. Delivering ECA & Cash For Rent liquidity to the case workers for case management to counter sign
  8. Supporting the field team with the centre activities, for example accompanying them to the field when needed (especially in regards to Cash For Rent field assessments and documentation).
  9. Communicating to the Project Activity Manager, Liaison/Security Officer, Logistic Officer, and Protection Officer in case of security incidents, and other activity affecting incidents.
  10. Assisting in the implementation of special events in the Safe spaces and the field PCS (community days, 16 days of activism or others)
  11. Performing other related duties upon request of the supervisor to support the project team and the project implementation process.
  12. Other:
    1. Participate to protection and coordination meetings when needed
    2. Be available for eventual trainings provided by INTERSOS or external stakeholders.
    3. Represent INTERSOS in the area of intervention and maintain positive coordination and relationships with NGOs / INGOs and local institutions present in the field.

 

 

Education:

 

  • University degree in Business Management, Social Work, or related field.

 

 

Competencies: (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

 

Professional Competencies:

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience (including administration, logistic, management and work with communities)
  • MS proficiency (Word, Excel)
  • Reporting skills
  • Driving license issued since more than 1 year.
