As a mean to respond to the increasing human needs in Lebanon under multiple crises, Action against hunger is launching the roster pools project, in this initiative we will validate all interested and qualified individuals in Finance, the applicants will become a part of our active pool and shall be contacted and prioritized when we have any open position or urgent gap to fill.
Action against Hunger is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit organization created in 1979. Its goal is to combat hunger and dangerous situations that threaten men, women and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working for Action against Hunger in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: nutrition, health, food security and water and sanitation.
In Lebanon, the Syrian crisis continues to generate political, social and economic pressure due to the war in Lebanon and keeps more than 1.5 million refugees in a situation of increasing vulnerability. In this environment of political, economic and social uncertainty, our teams have maintained their high levels of humanitarian response and aid to Lebanon. Likewise, our interventions have been maintained in the Bekaa and northern areas, as well as in the south of the country, with a special focus on working in partnership or in consortium with other organizations and on institutional strengthening of the relationship with both donors. institutional, such as with local authorities and entities.
WE WORK IN LEBANON AGAINST COVID-19
- Focusing on Syrian refugee population and Lebanese host communities, mobilization committees, isolation centres, municipalities and service providers.
- Conducting training for health personnel.
- Distributing disinfection and dignity kits.
- Installing latrines for people with specific needs in Aarsal.
- Carrying out channel cleaning to ensure proper drainage. Distributing water through tanker trucks.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
Action Against Hunger Lebanon’s Nutrition and Health Department will focus its nutrition activities on women and adolescents of reproductive age and children under-five, with a special focus on children under the age of two. Evidence clearly shows that nutritional needs and biological vulnerability are heightened during pregnancy, infancy and early childhood. Intervening during these key periods in the human life cycle from conception to the age of two represents a cost-effective public health intervention.
The Nutrition and Health department work contributes to the new International Strategic Plan (2021-2026) mainly:
- Save, protect and improve human lives, and
- Generate a long-lasting impact by transforming systems.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
These objectives are comprehensive to different positions levels; if you qualify for minimum 3 of the below mentioned objectives, then you are eligible to apply.
- Objective 1: Establishment and maintenance of appropriate humanitarian coordination with relevant partners
- Objective 2: Advocacy and resource mobilization
- Objective 3: Training and capacity building of national/local authorities and civil society
- Objective 4: Needs analysis and adapting approaches to cultural context
- Objective 5: Program and facilitate Health and Nutrition group sessions
- Objective 6: Actively participate, monitor, and report the implementation of activities at mission level in a timely and efficient manner
- Objective 7: Implement health and nutrition individual counselling.
- Objective 8: assess feeding needs of infants and young children .
- Objective 9: provide support, counselling and referrals to infants’ and young children’s mothers and care givers when needed.
- Objective 10 : Ensure a proper Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning of the project
PROFILE
Training/ Education: Degree in Nutrition, Health Sciences, Public Health, International Development, Nursing, or any related field.
Technical specific knowledge: Technical knowledge in public health, nutrition, Infant and Young Child Feeding, new-born, child maternal health, and community nutrition.
Additional knowledge and abilities in key nutrition aspects (nutrition during the life cycle, care practices, malnutrition, micronutrient deficiencies) and mental health is a plus
Previous experience: Minimum 2 years to 7 years of experience in Nutrition and Health in humanitarian and development organizations.
Familiarity with emergency response is a plus
Experience working in primary health care, community health and/or health promotion is highly desirable
Experience in project cycle management and team management is a plus
Humanitarian sector knowledge: good knowledge of INGOs and donor agencies procedure is highly desirable in addition to knowledge in guidelines and intervention in the country
Respect for ACF Security Regulations
Private Sector experience will be considered
Languages: Arabic and English
IT and specific systems: Good skills in Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and?Outlook)
