Re- Adv Project Coordinator

Overall Responsibility

Reporting to the Head of Programs, the Project Coordinator has overall management responsibility for CAMV project. CAMV project is a project consist of three components, WASH, Education and Food. The Project Coordinator is responsible for the overall management of the project including all components and will be a line manage project related staff.

The Project Coordinator is responsible for the preparation, implementation and monitoring of all project related budgets, project related assets, outcome and for ensuring that all project related information is organized and accessible.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Coordination and Development Activities
  • Extensive research on the project/intervention concept and its implementation models globally
  • Coordination and meeting with local stakeholders relevant to the implementation of project activities to integrate their role and perspectives
  • Presentation of the project proposal as an adapted and contextualized model
  • Coordination of project management activities, resources, equipment and material
  • Distribution of the project into actions and timeframes defining requirements, scope and objectives
  • Documentation and monitoring project plan, schedules and expenditures
  • Completion of risk assessment and provide solutions when possible
  • Development and maintenance of project documentation, plans and reports
  • Coordination of all points of contact as the focal point between the project’s implementing partners, operational organization and donor organization

 

  1. STRATEGIC PLANNING AND LEADERSHIP INPUT
  • Provide overall technical back stopping to the Country programme teams within IR’s strategic parameters.
  • Provide strategic direction in programming for Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Response including development of Emergency Preparedness Plans (EPP) with active and up to date Country Contingency Plans (CCP).

 

  1. CAPACITY BUIDLING
  • Identify the needs and support development of staff and partners to increase their competence in programmes.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection and induction of new staff including De-briefing of those returning from deployments and assignments.
  • Provide training to develop the capacity of project teams.

 

  1. MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP
  • Facilitate team building across the Programme and the wider country office departments.
  • Motivate the programme team and ensure they have clear annual objectives for which they will be accountable during their performance appraisals.
  • Provide HR Management to ensure the short and long-term success of the programme delivery.

 

  1. BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY
  • Lead the programme team to develop, finalize and closely monitor the programme budgets.
  • Work closely with the Country Finance Team (CFT) to ensure effective financial and budgetary controls of the programmes, according to IRW’s policy and procedures
  • Ensure corrective measures are taken to address issues of compliance in the project budgets.
  • Responsible for project budget.
  1. REPRESENTATION
  • Besides deputizing for the Head of Program/Program manager is expected to carry out any other related tasks in line with the job purpose.

 

  1. TRAVEL
  • The Project Coordinator is expected to spend a minimum of 60% of his time in the project sites and the team in the field.

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications

  • An in-depth understanding of development and relief issues whereby is able to provide guidance to programme staff on strategic development of the same.
  • Proven track record of working overseas with experience in various contexts (relief, rehabilitation and development) of which a substantial part should involve programme development and management with INGOs in developing countries.
  • Confident (and highly numerate) in proposal writing managing budgets to support programme development.
  • Proven experience in review, monitoring and evaluation of programmes; using of quantitative and qualitative methods and approaches to support of programme development.
  • Strong and well developed analytical skills coupled with experience of writing reports that are usable by different stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English language.

Experience

  • Experience of managing and mentoring local staff.
  • Good interpersonal skills including the ability to listen, sensitivity to others’ views and perspectives, and conflict resolution.
  • Proven experience in overseeing programmes; understanding of quantitative and qualitative data in support of programme development.
  • Experience of and commitment to participatory management and maintaining a supportive, open environment to ensure the learning and development of all staff.
  • Experience of managing and mentoring national staff.

Education

  • Bachelor or Master degree from an accredited University with major course in Business Administration, development and social studies or Related Field.
