Urban Designer

Responsibilities: The candidate will be entrusted with leading on a collaborative design project through which s/he will develop urban design/planning guidelines and liaise with two design team members to support a design proposal for mixed-income housing and a large green park. The work requires coordination across several design teams with different expertise and tasks throughout the different stages of the design process. The full list of the tasks is attached below.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications.

Qualifications and skills: A master degree in urban design (degree in architecture/ landscape architecture) is required, with a minimum of 5 years of experience. Strong design and representation skills (including AutoCAD knowledge), and 3d modeling for conceptualization (rhino, sketchup or other). Strong graphic skills with experience in Adobe Creative Suite. Knowledge in mixed-income housing is preferred. Good oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic are required, in addition to solid interpersonal skills, organizational/coordination skills with attention to details.

Detailed Tasks for the Urban Designer

• Coordinate with the teams and develop a full list of deliverables.
• Organize meetings and workshops with public actors, relevant stakeholders and community of urban designers.
• Develop an urban design proposal for building law/guidelines.
• Finalize maps related to assigned projects.
• Report writing and liaising with visualization team.
• Conduct field work when necessary.
