MEAL Manager

Lead MEAL Activities

  • In collaboration with Program Managers and Area Managers, lead the preparation of program/project MEAL plans, including log frames, time tables, data collection methodology, and tools to be used;
  • Ensure the follow-up of project achievements and indicators by sampling, collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, guaranteeing quality data and reviewing reports;
  • Manage and conduct regular field visits to project implementation sites to collect first hand data from Anera and partner staff as well as beneficiaries and their caregivers through interviews, surveys, focus group discussions and observations, in order to verify achievement of targets and relay an in-depth understanding of project performance,
  • Support programs in developing and conducting monitoring surveys (review methodologies and provide necessary trainings);
  • Produce monitoring and evaluation reports, and disseminate results and recommendations through interactive feedback sessions;

Administer and Manage Data Management Systems

  • Act as administrator for Anera’s data management system in Lebanon (Apricot);
  • Lead training and capacity building activities on the optimal use of the Apricot;
  • Use Apricot to operationalize program and MEAL strategies; in a manner that informs planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the different projects;
  • Ensure and support implementation of accountability systems that are compliant with Anera’s policies and procedures as well as those of the donors;
  • Provide monthly MEAL reports on actual performance of projects against plans and indicators highlighting  significant findings to the Country Director and respective managers;
  • Act as a focal point for the Referral Information Management System (RIMS) and roll out training of RIMS users;
  • Provide monthly reports and feedback to the Country Director, Department Heads and Area Managers on the status, frequency and results of referrals made or received through RIMS;
  • Ensure support of program teams in timely Activity Info reporting

Institutional and Departmental Capacity Building

  • Encourage staff learning based on best practices, lessons and feedback captured from partner organizations and beneficiaries to guide project design and implementation,
  • Lead and participate in trainings and other internal and external capacity building activities, including addressing Partner’s MEAL training needs
  • Identify training opportunities (in-person, online, internal or outsourced)

Manage Department’s Human Resources

  • Work with Human Resources to recruit, interview, select, and employ competent staff and associate team members as per Anera's hiring policies;
  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
  • Delegate responsibility as necessary and expect accountability and regular feedback;
  • Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members that allows for disagreement over ideas, and effective conflict resolution;
  • Consciously create a positive workplace culture that is consistent with Anera's mission, vision, and guiding principles;
  • Lead employees using a performance management and development process that provides an overall context and framework to encourage employee contribution and includes goal setting, feedback, and performance development planning.
  • Provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action, with the assistance of Human Resources, when necessary;
  • Maintain MEAL team’s work schedules including assignments, job rotation, training, vacations and paid time off, telecommuting, cover for absenteeism, and overtime scheduling;
  • Appropriately communicate organization and department information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and emails.

Other responsibilities:

  • Represent Anera in relevant working groups, including the Inter-agency Information Management Working Group
  • Support the Communication Department in the dissemination of the achieved results, success stories and testimonies at international, national and local level, among partners and stakeholders.
