Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in environmental science, management, engineering or related fields
- 15+ years of professional experience with increasing responsibilities in environmental consulting and technical assistance services
- A minimum of 15-years of experience managing environmental assessments and audits based on Lebanese regulations; assisting governments and agencies to develop environmental policies, laws, and regulations and to prepare environmental strategies and action plans; developing and delivering environmental training; and delivering other environmental, water and energy management services
- Extensive experience in new business and proposal development, including forming consortia, recruiting experts, and writing and leading technical and financial proposals, and in contract development, review and negotiation
- Organizational and staff development experience
- Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and direct or manage complex projects, fostering teamwork and producing high-quality deliverables within allocated time and budget resources
- Extensive network of professional relations with relevant national and local government organizations; Lebanese, regional and international consulting firms; research organizations and academia; and multi-lateral and bi-lateral donor agencies
- Excellent analytical skills and written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and representational skills
- Proficiency in computer applications, especially MS Office
- Fluency in English and Arabic; French is a plus
Description of the Position:
The Director will be responsible for the following tasks:
1) Representation and Business Development
- Represent the firm officially at coordination meetings, conferences, and other events
- Develop and maintain strong professional relations with potential clients and partners, including national and local government organizations; Lebanese, regional and international firms; research organizations and academia; and multi-lateral and bi-lateral donor agencies
- Position the firm for prospective projects and identify new business opportunities that align with the firm’s strategy for growth
- Oversee and direct business capture and proposal development efforts, notably teaming with partner organizations, recruiting personnel, writing proposal sections, providing critical review and feedback to improve draft proposals, developing and reviewing financial proposals, and approving final proposals for submission
- Negotiate contracts with clients and prepare and negotiate subcontracts and consultant agreements
- Supervise and support senior project managers and other employees to ensure the successful implementation of projects and assignments
- Provide quality control of deliverables to ensure that they meet client expectations and the firm’s quality standards
- Oversee the preparation and submission of deliverables on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements
- Manage and allocate staff and other resources to ensure flawless execution of projects
- Manage project budgets
- Plan and approve all financial transactions, including submitting invoices to clients and executing payments to subcontractors and consultants
- Develop and nurture relationships with clients and project stakeholders
- Write concise descriptions of projects implemented by the firm
3) Organizational and Staff Development
- Lead the development and implementation of a strategic vision and plan for the firm
- Develop and maintain institutional capabilities and efficient organizational structure and development activities
- Oversee the firm’s human resources requirements, including leading the recruitment of new personnel
- Oversee staff development, including supervising and coaching employees and providing constructive feedback
- Conduct annual performance evaluations and regular goal-setting meetings for all staff
- Delineate clear responsibilities and targets for positions in the organizational structure
- Maximize performance and encourage teamwork in accordance with the firm’s cultural practices and leadership principles
- Nurture the capture, management and dissemination of knowledge to ensure continuous learning and information exchange within and outside the firm
4) Administration
- Supervise the Administrative Manager and oversee all administrative functions
- Revise and approve invoices and receipts to clients
- Revise and approve all payments, including bank transactions, checks issuance and cash disbursements
- Monitor balances in the bank accounts and cash on an ongoing basis in coordination with the Administrative Manager
- Oversee the preparation of the company’s annual financial statements and financial reports to the government
- Prepare company and project budgets and monitor expenses against the budgets
- Revise and approve payroll monthly
The Director will be based in ECODIT Liban’s office in Baabda and will report to the ECODIT Liban General Manager. S/he will be expected to comply with ECODIT Liban’s Code of Business Ethics and Conduct.
Compensation:
- Gross Annual Salary based on merit and experience as well as the position’s roles and responsibilities
- Transportation: Monthly Allowance
- Medical Health Insurance: Yearly Allowance
- National Social Security Fund (NSSF)
- Personal Vacation: 15 days per year
- Official Holidays: 15 days per year
- Annual Bonus: At the discretion of Management and depending on both the employee’s and ECODIT’s performance
