Database Officer

  1. Role and responsibilities

 

The WASH Database Officer is responsible for the WASH database management and reporting, through monthly data entries, checks and analysis, monthly reporting on internal and external platforms and managing the population update assessment.

 

Generic responsibilities

 

  • Elaborate and maintain outputs database on a daily basis based on field data collection sheet
  • Prepare data collection sheet for WASH team activities
  • Carry out data collection as required
  • Prepare surveys as required
  • Coordinate with the M&E department on data sharing
  • Prepare targets progress reports
  • Prepare donor monthly indicators database
  • Ensure that NRC activities are implemented within NRC’s protection mainstreaming guidelines and report any breaches/concerns to the line manager and/or focal point for proper follow up
  • Ensure that all protection-related cases are referred to the concerned referral focal point and to the Protection Coordinator

Specific responsibilities:

  • Act as focal point for all NRC software related to field data collection including Kobo, dynamics 365, RAIS, Activity Info, DHIS reporting and other software as per the water sector requests.
  • Prepare targets progress reports (weekly/monthly/quarterly) generated from the database.
  • Perform Data entry on WASH database, extracting data and analysis from the database as requested by the WASH Project Manager.
  • Coordinate with the M&E department on data sharing and NRC’s internal reporting systems including donor monthly indicators database, output and outcome indicators.
  • Manage all WASH data back-up for (SharePoint) MS Access Database, online clouds such as OneDrive and Dynamics 365.
  • Data protection including distribution sheets archiving and scanning on monthly basis.
  • Facilitate field staff are prepared with the needed data for spot-checks, phone calls and field surveys to monitor/verify the quality of the implementation.
  • Plan, follow up and extract population update assessment data for the informal tented settlements on quarterly basis.  
  • Conduct payment monthly basis KOBO sheets for the WASH services including water trucking and desludging.
  • Prepare, monitor and share WASH services monitoring matrix on weekly basis.

  • WASH project manager, coordinators, officers, assistants and technicians.
  • M&E Coordinator and M&E Database Officer
  • Database officers within NRC Bekaa
  • Coordination with staff from other NRC core competencies (Shelter, ICLA, Youth and Education) to ensure the sharing, triangulation and verification of relevant data.

 

  1. Competencies

 

Professional competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Information Management, Social Work, Social Sciences, Economics, or other relevant field
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in the humanitarian/development sector
  • Experience with data collection and analysis
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Access is a must
  • IT skills: knowledge of Kobo Collect essential. Knowledge of Excel, Google Earth preferred; knowledge of analytical software is a bonus.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English, both written and spoken
  • Experience in information management and analysis, and understanding of M&E approaches and techniques
