Call for roster of Yoga Trainers

Koun is a Lebanese NGO that provides yoga classes to marginalized and vulnerable communities in the country as a tool for mental health, self-awareness and total wellbeing. We believe in a “community-to-community” approach, in which our yoga trainers come from the same or similar communities that we target, in order to build a trustful and sustainable relationship with the people we serve.

Koun works with different vulnerable groups in Lebanon, such as refugees, migrants, LGBTQA+, incarcerated persons, survivors of gender and domestic violence, etc, with a main focus on children and women. We provide basic free yoga cycles for different cohorts and we organize basic and advanced training of trainers programmes for those capable beneficiaries that are interested in starting a professional career in the yoga sector and support the organization’s mission. 

Koun is building a roster of skillful and capable yoga trainers to be contracted as service professionals for its future projects and programmes. We are looking for yoga instructors that want to be part of Koun’s team and believe in its mission and vision. 

Important: This is not a full time job offer. Selected candidates will be included in Koun’s roster and will be called on an ad hoc basis depending on the organization’s needs and active projects. This is a local position and it is also open for people with migrant and refugee status.

 

Key tasks:

- Conduct 12 yoga sessions of 90 minutes per group during a three-month period

- Conduct other ad-hoc yoga related activities

- Assist targeted persons in developing self-awareness and improve their mental and physical wellbeing

- Develop a detailed working plan in Arabic of the sessions that will be taught

- Communicate cases of GBV, domestic violence and other issues to the project coordinator for the necessary referral

- Attend specific training on Child Protection, GBV, PSCA and others

- Conduct monitoring surveys with the beneficiaries at the beginning and end of each yoga cycle

- Prepare monthly narrative reports of the yoga training in English

- Fill out monthly time sheets

- Refer to the Project Coordinator on matters related to logistics

- Ensure the achievement of the sessions’ objectives

- Update the attendance sheet on each session

- Represent Koun at fundraising events

- Support Koun’s growth and work in general

 

Required Qualifications:

- Minimum 200 hours YTTC 

- At least two years of proven experience in teaching yoga sessions. 

- Ability to teach yoga classes fully in Arabic. 

- Experience in teaching yoga to vulnerable communities and working in the humanitarian sector are considered assets.

- Demonstrated understanding of the main issues that afflict the vulnerable communities that Koun works with;

- Good team work skills

- Excellent time management skills;

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in Arabic and English
