Meal Officer

Responsibilities: (in bullet points)

Monitoring:

• Provide, and build M&E systematic data gathering processes, verification and validation while ensuring proper follow up
• Assist in routine data collection and entry for various interventions implemented under Akkarouna and ensure that complete, accurate, clean and consistent data is shared with the MEAL Officer for data analysis and action planning.
• Ensure proper filing of M&E documents including questionnaires, monitoring reports, datasets among others
• Submit to the M&E department weekly and monthly updates on M&E activities conducted in the field
• With support from the M&E department, participate capacity building and mentorship activities for field staff in data collection and cleaning
• Keep the M&E database up to date and help program staff prepare periodic high-quality reports including data validation exercises

Evaluation:

• Perform quality benchmarks for the projects’ activities and ensure their proper reporting

Accountability:

• Maintain and follow up on an accountability mechanism that ensures beneficiaries’, stakeholders, and different entities’ participation and two-ways dialogue are factored into all stages of the project management cycle

Learning:

• Ensure data gathered, and the usage of evidence based quantitative and qualitative data related to lessons learned.

Information Management:

• Develop of information management tools in order to ensure the systems are fit for the purpose of monitoring and data analysis

Digitalize of MEAL tools and databases, ensuring all staff members are oriented on all tools

Coordination and Reporting:

• Report on weekly, monthly and quarterly on the project’s indicators according to the MEAL Framework

Perform other duties as required by Akkarouna

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject or equivalent field experience

Experience and Skills:

• 2 to 3 years’ experience in working under MEAL in a humanitarian and development context
• 2 years’ experience of information and data management
• 2 years’ experience monitoring and evaluation skills including planning/participating in assessment design, analysis and implementation
• Excellent communication skills
• Able to write clear assessments and project reports
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
