Writer/Editor

Develops English human interest stories by visiting communities to collect the stories and/or edit  human interest stories. In all written products the following considerations must be made:

▪ Protecting the rights of the child must be given priority above all considerations when collecting and writing stories and other materials

▪ Ensuring clarity, readability, logic, appropriateness as well as engaging writing in each story

 ▪ Ensuring language accuracy. The final product must not require further editing/copyediting

▪ Consulting with supervisor and other  colleagues to ensure adherence to the stylebook and guidelines, and alignment with the country programme

▪ Ensuring factual accuracy including accurate representation of the issues and programmes.

Education Degree Details
• University degree in either of the following subjects journalism, languages, communications, social sciences, linguistics or other related fields; In case of lack of university degree, 2 years of additional work experience will be required.
• At least 5 years’ experience of writing stories, articles, features, human interest stories or reports on social issues for public audiences in English preferably in a media or development environment. Experience as a writer-editor is essential.
• Perfect, professional fluency in written and spoken English (Evaluation of sample work)
• Experience in the humanitarian field.
